I've just found this crumpled note - the equivalent of a press card - in an old file. 23 years a journalist this year. Started writing for @TheStatesmanLtd in college, covering campus news. Almost got suspended from college bec of an investigative piece I'd done on our hostel lol

Has any news organisation tried to contact YesMadam to verify this insane email? Most stories I've read say "this could not be confirmed independently". Then wth are you reporting unconfirmed news? This smacks of PR bs.

Yup. Any law, any regulation, any system, it will have loopholes and those will be exploited by the unscrupulous. That doesn’t take away from why the law exists.

This photo came up on FB from a handle I do not follow. Of course Meta doesn't find targeted hate towards women problematic. Working women aren't automatically entitled to alimony in this country. It is based on multiple factors, including the judge's discretion.

Except, it's not 'comedy of errors', is it? Jimit Jain wasn't forced to eat a chicken burger. He was billed for one due to a mistake. The staff apologised and he was offered Rs 100 as compensation. But his "mental distress" was such he took them to court asking for 2 crore.

I was warned not to keep my phone in my back pocket as someone is likely to lift it. I know I keep beating this drum, but it's 2024. Why are denim side pockets still so shallow that a standard phone sticks out of them? You can't even fit your palms in them. Why are men designing women's jeans?

The lawyer that represented Asian students who helped break Affirmative because they thought Black students were less qualified and shouldn't have gotten in. is now suing because Asian enrollment is down at select Ivy-league schools. Come to find out, it is white students who have always benefited.

I propose we do the opposite of a meltdown in stress. Solid-up - freeze your anger and distress in a solid block of granite resolve that time will chisel either into art or warhead.
