This seems like the only safe response
you know if Joyce Carol Oates nuked me so thoroughly my first thought would be "Wow JCO noticed me!" and then I would withdraw from public life and reinvent myself so that no trace of the old me remained!

This article is about the decline of journalistic integrity and the specific lack of it at the NYT. An excellent read

i really hate the notion that has taken hold that bush is not responsible for the shit bush did as president. yes, cheney was his advisor and wingman and his soul is soaked with the blood of iraqis and americans, but at the end of the day bush was the decider.

Note that the trend takes that sharp turn upward staring in 1980. This is what Reagan's trickle down economics did.
PSA: Thinking this is wrong doesn’t make you a “radical” — thinking it isn’t does.

In the spirit of “no one knows what will work” and “try a diversity of tactics,” ICE hasn’t shown up at Chicago’s immigration court since June 16.
It's been another quiet morning at Chicago's immigration court. We have not seen any feds on the premises. Activists are handing out flyers and chalking the sidewalks.

ICE hasn't returned to attempt any arrests since autonomous protesters established a constant presence here last Monday.

I think about this a lot. It's also why they keep voting foe the person most likely to be the antichrist
i think it’s not talked about enough that so many christian rightwingers support israel because they want to trigger the end times rapture and they believe supporting israel will ensure this

An Immigration Lawyer breaks down the motivation behind these detentions.
Take a listen and seriously consider it. While this is not an uncommon practice, I am glad people are beginning to speak up about it.

Exactly. It's the expectation that poor people need to earn the right to live in society through contribution while the rich just skate by on their untaxed generational wealth.
The primary resource of a community IS people. So treating a poor person who has children like a burden on society is some goofy ass eugenics shit.

This is the whole of his tarrif plan, nicely summarized.
Again: he is not going to back down from tariffs because the imports collapse is an explicitly good thing to him. It’s the whole goal of the policy.

He sees the number of containers going to zero and thinks *that is a success* because it means we’re not buying things from those foreigners anymore.
