Does stuff. Likes things. Lives in England.
A related point to this is that every post-WW2 British civil servant and politician who revelled in Britain being “Greece to America’s Rome” should be dug up and hanged at Tyburn.
If you listen very carefully, you can hear Charles de Gaulle screaming I BLOODY TOLD YOU SO from some rural French cemetery.

‘The Times’ used atrocious polling to support a biased story on #HS2

I wouldn’t say “superb”, Duncan.

Yet again we have an #HS2 article that ignores the rampant appeasement of NIMBYs and BANANAs who drove up the cost with redesign, unnecessary tunnelling, “bat bridges”, judicial reviews etc
Superb and absolutely damning long read on HS2.

Reform UK's Tom Pickup, has been suspended by the party after posting in a far-right Whatsapp group where other members posted calls for Keir Starmer to be shot.

Completely unsurprising that Amanda - the ex-Metropolitan Police detective - spent weeks obsessing about an innocent woman being a traitor and became best mates with Rachel the traitor.

No wonder it’s one of the most incompetent and corrupt police forces in the country.

Speaks volumes when a national media joyfully prints negative commentary on one project designed to let the North receive benefits.

And can't be bothered to report the axing of another project designed to benefit the North.

No wonder places outside SE England are left to rot

And as with all the other Tory-created quangos that are just jobs-for-the-boys, we can expect OFCOM to report back in 18 months time with stern words and no actual actions.
Ofcom is reviewing how one major platform is dealing with hate crime - including antisemitism and anti-Muslim prejudice. It does not want to publicly say which platform. It is opaque as to whether all forms of racism have similar or assymetric levels of priority

French authorities act against Twitter / X due to it publishing Holocaust Denial.

British authority OFCOM does nothing about Twitter / X publishing racist content that breaks British law.
French authorities are taking X to court because Grok is now doing straight up holocaust denial. Gas chambers intended for disinfection, cyanide residue tiny, ‘story’ persists because of taboo against critical examination. (Full translation in alt text)

Ever notice when someone in Britain pops up to say "what's the problem with ID Cards?" that they are overwhemlingly white middle-aged males?

People whose concept of the relationship with the State only centres around their personal ease of use?

Cleaning up brownfield needs some form of special measure.

As it's often urban and potentially prime real estate, perhaps cleanup can be financed by investment bond paid out from eventual transformation into a site of value.
Nothing in this acknowledges the economic reality of why many brownfield sites don’t get away as housing: they’re not financially viable unless someone (usually us, in some form) pays for them to be cleaned up and made ready
Almost 1.5m homes could be built on brownfield sites in England, report finds

Comparing a solar farm‘s (microscopically small) risk of fire to the Aberfan Disaster is more proof of the self-centred derangement of NIMBYs in the Home Counties.
A solar farm that could have powered “all the households in Witney” has been refused permission by West Oxfordshire District Council. Councillors were concerned about the risk of fire, one drawing parallels to the 1966 Aberfan disaster: “Until someone can guarantee it is safe, I can’t support it.”

How the giddy fuck has the utterly useless Lisa Nandy retained her job???

She’s not fit to run a tombola, let alone a government department.
Kyle is going to Business. Replacing Jonny Reynolds.

Incredibly Lisa Nandy is staying at DCMS - she was the one person everyone thought would be moved.

One instance of vandalism in 60+ years of “think tanks” meddling in public affairs, and one of their alumni thinks it’s a slam dunk reason for not naming anonymous donors.
Next time someone does the whole "why doesn't x think tank publish the names of its donors?" thing, remind them that there are organised groups of extremist yobs who use violent intimidation to try to shut down think tanks they disagree with.
