Today, on Fred Korematsu Day, we honor the man whose refusal to comply with the mass removal and confinement of Japanese Americans during World War II became one of the most significant challenges to government authority in U.S. history.

The most corrupt regime of our lifetimes. With no close second.

Anybody out there have any policy language on personnel assessment of creative activity related to printing/making, esp in the context of a humanities department? My dept (English) is expanding the scope of what counts as research & creative activity, & I want to provide some guidance on this front.

His name was Geraldo Lunas Campos. If you pay taxes in the US, you paid 4 ICE officers to hold him down while a 5th choked him to death. This murder is more likely to be justified as a natural consequence of being a "criminal alien" than to be prosecuted.

We are hurtling quickly down a dark path.

This is the most astonishing graph of what the Trump regime has done to US science. They have destroyed the federal science workforce across the board. The negative impacts on Americans will be felt for generations, and the US might never be the same again.

i personally think we should build a global security architecture where war is considered stupid
there was a funny post a while back about how one part of the left thinks every foreign conflict is WW1 while the centre and centre-left think every conflict is WW2
Like, as I understand it the rhetoric here is basically applying the literal WW1 Eastern Front view of "it's just conscripts fighting over imperial ambition instead of overthrowing their leaders", which:
- doesn't even map onto the rest of WW1
- totally ignores the actual occupied peoples' wishes

Remembering the Abu Ghraib trophy photos. Abuse like this should be cause for firing and loss of pension when applicable.
Inside the detention center, Gibson said officers put him in a bare, metal holding cell about the size of a small conference room with around 40 other detainees. Their legs were shackled. Gibson said one person in the cell appeared to have scabies.
Minneapolis man says ICE agents took 'trophy' photos, locked him in overcrowded cell
