They are not law enforcement and we need to keep saying that. Neither are they US Military. Border Patrol is prohibited from " policing" the interior. It's illegal for them to operate farther than 100 miles from the border. They aren't the law. They're operating outside of the law.

Yes, the GOP controls Congress. That's why it's key to show Congress COULD stop the madness. And it's not just the DHS bill. Congress could repeal the prior multi-year $75b for DHS; set up a special investigative committee (cf. Watergate); amend the Insurrection Act; etc.

Also, may I say that I don’t agree with people saying ICE and CBP need “more training.” They’re doing exactly what this administration has trained them to—impose a reign of fear in blue cities. They don’t need more training. They need to be ripped up root and branch.

I have a sense of dread about this.
Think of how these ICE agents target courts, schools, churches, other places that immigrants tend to be.
Then think about how passionate most other countries are about soccer, hence their emigrants are.
ICE will see every host city as a target rich environment.

just gonna throw out a quick reminder that in America police kill a yearly average of 3 civilians per day, routinely in situations very similar to these ICE killings, and decades of explicit support for police impunity by US politicians is why ICE feels theyre able to get away with this right now

I have been thinking all day about the number of times unarmed Black people were killed by police on the pretext that their cell phone looked like a gun. And people would say “oh but you just don‘t know what the truth is.” Well here it is.

There is a very disturbing current NOTAM that appears to prohibit drone flights within 3000 feet of DHS and ICE operations, including moving and (presumably) disguised vehicles.
Proceed with EXTREME caution when flying drones anywhere near areas in which ICE is active.

what's the legal and FAA status of small consumer drones with cameras that people can locally pilot filming these goons? seems like that would be a useful complement to in-person recording, especially because it's hard to disappear the person with the footage if they're around the corner.
