Pretty certain he’d have a lot in common with some of the people the US opened its borders to that allowed it to land on the moon.
What if we kept pointing out that this weird and frightened guy doesn't know what he's talking about

It’s slowly driving me up the wall that critics who should absolutely understand what poptimism was/is/means (some of whom were present for the surge in the idea) don’t seem to understand what it actually is. It was never about ‘this is popular = it’s above criticism’.

I was watching an interview with a high up at BBC recently and she was talking about wanting to commission horror, but wasn’t sure if it was doable, and I cannot emphasise enough: Commission a 5 part horror series to air between Christmas & New Year.
OK, I know moaning about the Christmas TV schedule is a popular British pastime. But I've just been flipping through the Christmas Radio Times and noticed something alarming: neither BBC One nor ITV1 have done a big *new* drama for Christmas week. At all.

That's not a good sign.

People who have written opinion pieces about how we should emulate manga sales needs to look at the Shonen Jump/One Piece/Dragonball comic sales on here vs all of the brands that started out as an English language comic titles, & give me a precise breakdown as to how exactly they plan to achieve it.
This graph is killing me.

Said it before, but: The absolute best screen version of LotR would have been made in the mid-to-late 1970’s by ITV, and would’ve been about 4 series long, with a cast mostly made up m of aging British character actors, and have had a synth soundtrack.
what I love about LotR is that it is at its heart about moving through a melancholy landscape largely filled with ruins, faded histories and legends - I would have filmed it that way and cut the fights to a bare minimum, plus add Merry's interest in comparative philology as a major plot element

I increasingly dislike the idea of comic adaptations of prose books (Darwyn Cooke’s Parker series aside), however I am interested to see when traditional publishing is going to start doing prose adaptations of comics.

You can tell that LotR was written by an academic because Gandalf disappears for like 20 years doing research to answer a single question.

And to Tiny Tim, who did NOT die, but was relaunched in Ultimate Tiny Tim #1, which takes place after Amazing Tiny Tim #332 and All-New Tiny Tim #200, and don’t forget to read the Scrooge / David Copperfield / Great Expectations crossover event minis otherwise the Miss Havisham bit won’t make sense
And to Tiny Tim, who did NOT die, and will return in Avengers: Doomsday

At this point they really should just make the posters read ‘LOOK!! WE GOT RDJ AND CHRIS EVANS! PLEASE COME BACK!’.

Pro tip: Don’t have *massive* house renovations going on when you’re in final art season for a graphic novel project.
We’re 4 months into a supposed 3 week renovation and I’m losing the will to liiiiiiiiiiiiive.

I mean, don’t get me wrong - I’m not arguing about the fact that France recognises comics, and we’re terrible at it (see: Everything I ever post ever), but she very much was awarded an MBE for her work.
This is great, but it’s also incredible (as in, “I am incredulous,”) that France has honoured Posy Simmonds for her cultural achievements and the British (cultural gatekeepers) haven’t. Of course, in France, #comics are the 9th Art, while in GB, they’re… what? We’ve come a long way, but still…
AWARDS ROUNDUP: Posy Simmonds and Milo Manara honoured, and more

In this edition - Posy Simmonds receives a French honour, Milo Manara gets an honorary degree, Red Harvest gets shortlisted for the 2026 Kobzar Book Award, and - despite no Angoulême on the horizon - award season is still in effect…

I love that the character designs of the muppets are:
98% cute/funny animals
2% which look like the final form of something from a folk horror movie
