This is what we mean when we talk about the importance of opening lines in flash. "Emmie, my nine year old daughter, knows how to hotwire a Kia." bendinggenres.com/a-normal-kid/ Read this goodness from James Keith Smith: A Normal Kid. #flashfiction

I'm looking for a flash fiction piece published in a journal -- I don't remember where, or who, or even the title -- but it's about a mother whose daughter has become a vampire or a zombie and the mother is helping the daughter, at great risk to herself -- does this sound familiar to anyone?

Nothing jolts me out of a writing slump like my 90-year-old dad saying he's finished drafting his Netflix pilot.

Seems to me like restaurants and businesses aren't closing due to a decrease in traffic or unhoused people. It must be something else.

For anyone who'd like a specific feed of Flash Fiction People, the every wonderful @pleomorphic2.bsky.social has created a really useful list 👇
Hi Diane. I created this list and use it as my main feed. You can use it too - just pin it to your main feed page. It has most of the flashy people on it, and it means you only see their posts. If there’s anyone you want to add just let me know. bsky.app/profile/did:...

It's interesting that some of the downtown businesses who believe they don't have shoppers because of unhoused people don't understand that they have lost shoppers (me, and my friends) because those businesses support criminalization of homelessness. We shop and eat at the other places often.

"I have never been a great candidate for anything. I have mostly been a really good sport." Oh, man, what a great flash in the inaugural issue of Hot Flash Literary, by the incredible, incomparable delight that is @kathyfish.bsky.social
I was thinking recently about how much I missed writing dialogue. This piece I wrote for the "my body, my choice" inaugural issue of Hot Flash Literary uses lots of dialogue and is very short. I'd love for you to read it and the whole amazing debut issue! 💙

ACTION ALERT: Tell city council to reject the ordinance to ban camping on city property!

On Tuesday, September 2nd (tomorrow!), City Council will be considering an ordinance that would make it illegal to sleep on city property or to leave personal property unattended on city land. 🧵
We strongly object to the proposed ban on camping on public property in the city.

This inhumane policy was condoned by the current right wing Supreme Court in the Grant’s Pass decision, which Chief Kochis sites in his justification for the policy.

Homelessness is solved by housing, not policing.
awwww the police chief wants a new ordinance 🥺 as a treat 🥺 while unhoused people are under unprecedented, violent attack merely two hours north of us 🥺
