1 year exactly since the release of my debut book w/ @versobooks.bsky.social.
In February '24 I wrote down in my journal my goals for the release - audiences reached, countries travelled, connections made etc. This 1st year wildly exceeded all my expectations, I am so so grateful.

What's next? 1/4

I have never had a Spotify account and always just played music on Winamp. A loved one's moving away from Spotify to also just owning mp3s and showed me this website. I can't get over how it's exactly the kind of internet I miss and what I wouldn't do to bring it back.

You can bet that behind the "Denmark is not a good ally" lies the fear of acknowledging the utter failure of the richest country on Earth having a lower living standard + much worse social security than tiny no natural resources Denmark where public investment, labour unions, anti-oligarchy are key.
They’re again advocating against Denmark when it comes to Greenland

Watched some naff Christmas Carol theatre production, and thinking that it does indeed teach kids a lie and is in need of a modern reinterpretation.. Individual vs system critique aside the truth is you WILL get the glory and social life etc if you mistreat people and are greedy in today's world. :(

Welcome, Twitter escapees/new Bluesky users. Four quick tips:

1. Starter packs are awesome. I made a game dev one here -> go.bsky.app/RxQCsKS

2. Bluesky's block is much more potent. Do not quote, or dunk. There's no pay-to-win so silence does remove nasty people. Blocks and move on copiously.

To all grose tankies -
US is doing to Venezuela what Russia is doing to Ukraine, except not even close as bad. Yet. And I happen to be an internationalist and sincerely support the innocent Venezuelan people and condemn the gross actions of US. May we ask for the same solidarity? Sadly not at all.

Still annoyed by this. I absolutely *could* go on how it's "a delusional fantasy" to think that Labour, or Tories, or Farage for that matter will dismantle NHS. But I don't, because NHS is important and I wouldn't gamble, mock it, and I care for poor people even in a country I don't live in.
What are you even talking about! I am saying it is a delusional fantasy to suggest Russia is going to invade European countries like Poland, Germany or indeed the UK, which is the insane drivel currently being promoted in support of a disastrous arms race.

It’s a shame that this is what most “socialist” discourse looks like in the UK. No grounding in reality, no attempt to engage with expert discourse, just lazy contrarianism to drum up clicks.

I think it is possible that Russia might invade European countries like Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, and Poland, primarily because the Russian state keeps saying it wants to invadw European countries like Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, and Poland

Russia is not going to "Invade Poland". It is going to, say, "defend Kaliningrad" or "Russians in Estonia". And of course it won't call it a "war" - so if you push back against that, it's going to be you playing with fire and risking a nuclear apocalypse!

It’s possible to be on the left, have an intense dislike of western foreign policy, but also realise that Russia is a threat. They have twice deployed chemical weapons on this island and invaded another European country.

I am sure the people of the Baltics and Poland will be reassured to hear that Owen Jones of the UK thinks Russia would be too stupid to invade them

Owen Jones tells us it's a delusional fantasy that Russia could invade Poland...

(It's a mere 86 years since Russia last invaded Poland and only 32 years since its troops reluctantly left Polish soil. Also Russia is currently trying to eradicate Poland's nearest neighbour)

Examt why UK "left" is an embarrassment #7368.
Jones has been terribly unsophisticated for a while now, pretty much since after "Chavs", but this blatant arrogance, Western exceptionalism, selective pacificm - zomg it's so boring.
It was a "delusional fantasy" that 24/02/2022 will ever happen, too.

I've been off social media a lot, for me, this afternoon, but catching up and what the actual fuck is wrong with some people. You can absolutely condemn the Israeli government for its genocide in Gaza. If you use that in any way shape or form to minimise the attack in Sydney you need serious help.

A brilliant piece of writing. Especially when contrasted with an interview 𝘪𝘯𝘥𝘶𝘴𝘵𝘳𝘺 𝘱𝘳𝘦𝘴𝘴 did with Keighley a few days back. This - the journalism / commentary we deserve. The latter - 40 mins of "so how come you're so amazing?" to one of the most controversial figures in games. The state of things.
