The more I think about this, the more I wish it was more inclusive. I know where it comes from, but there are young YA books and chapter books and picture books of astounding brilliance. If Shaun Tan or Helen Oxenbury can’t win it, can you really call it Best Children’s book? A good step, but…

The 400 richest Americans are now worth a record $6.6 trillion, after getting $1.2 trillion richer over the past year alone.

Meanwhile, the rest of the country is getting squeezed by tariffs and high prices for groceries, utilities, and health care.

The system is broken.

Many on the right will try and belittle and undermine what’s happening.

But here’s the truth. Tens of thousands are joining Greens. Polls are at record highs. People are just starting to feel hope again.

One of the things about this study is that a lot of baby and toddler books are written in house, by editors. So the study reveals the whiteness of editorial in kidlit even if not explicitly. But, big picture, this trend is unacceptable. I remember so many promises www.theguardian.com/books/2025/o...
‘Catastrophic decline’ in Black representation in children’s books

I agree with every word Zelda Williams says. And this at the end from OpenAI makes me want to go full Ned Ludd. Creators can’t have a blanket opt-out on copyright infringement of their work and have to fill out a form appealing to OpenAI’s mercy every time? Fuck off into the sun

I’m genuinely so honoured and so excited to read the debuts that will shape the future of children’s literature. A total dream!

This comment nails it. Frankly it’s none of anyone’s business who else is in a public lavatory, even if they consider someone is in the “wrong” one. If you’re upset by the mere presence of somebody else for reasons of your own beliefs, that’s your problem.
genuinely insane we are at point "a person was afraid of someone who caused NO harm, so latter person needs to be segregated" rather than genuinely if YOU are so terrified of others on this level YOU are A PHOBE of some stripe and it is YOU who needs to leave. it IS bigots who need a third space imo

You’re much closer to becoming disabled or homeless than you are to becoming rich and wealthy.

It’s not a moral failing. It’s not something you can “try harder” your way out of.

We need robust social supports & safety nets to ensure everyone is properly cared for.

The truth: we need migration.

The problem: too many politicians are terrified to say it.

Why? They're led by a) toxicity of the charlatans & b) wealthy media organisations who demand these useful distractions rather than us talking about inequality.

Reject it. Draw the line.

Too often people go to university to ‘explore research and knowledge’
