I will argue with most people that the Hitchhikers Guides best format is radio. It leaves a hell of a lot of the world for your brain to imagine and fill in the gaps.
But, for communicating facts, the last thing you want is your brain making up the gaps.
The useless third has a lot to answer for.

What’s so funny about this is that we have around a century of research showing that passively listening is the worst way to learn and remember things. It’s why teachers at every level are told not to just lecture students. That’s all a podcast is: a lecture with extra distractions.

Interesting post for the day. When people think about galaxies being “redshifted,” they generally get it right that a vast majority of them are apparently moving away. People generally intuit this as galaxies moving *through* space, which is largely wrong, though. Galactic motion can be broken 🧵

it’s nothing like them, but leonard and hungry paul (on iplayer) gives me the same feeling as detectorists and hitchhikers guide to the galaxy, so maybe jot that down if you like to feel nice

I agree with this sentiment, but there was a time in the 90s when this was not true. One person did have dominion.
