There's a lot of discussion about British bands that never translated across the pond, and the elephant in the room is Status Quo, with around 50 top 40 singles in the UK over 40 years. They have no column for charting US singles because there were none. Only Camper van Beethoven saves them.

do you know any Canadians who got boiled to death at work? I bet you don't, because we've all seen this PSA about 400 times

Always funny double-take when a length-limited data field cuts Manurewa off at 6 characters.

No bank, ever, will ask you to write down your PIN.

And they won't ask you to leave your card in your letterbox with said PIN for collection by staff.

This is not a thing.

Please don't.

Shelley was also excited by internet technology, which is why he subtitled the book The Modem Prometheus

Meanwhile, on twitter, did you know that Mary Shelley never could have written Frankenstein (which is about magnets as you know) because her boyfriend was really into magnets?

In fact, when you think about it, that's why women in general don't write great literature (chicks aren't into magnets).

Oh, so he totally stole the money

My personal Bond dream is 5 diverse WannaBonds are competing for the 00 badge, and they all win, making future escapade movies for their own audiences.

You want your white hetero homogeneBond? You got it! And you don't have to watch the others.
James Bond’s death in No Time to Die is causing a nightmare for the next film. Writers are stuck because Bond “was blown to pieces.”

Anthony Horowitz, author of three 007 novels, says:

“You can't have him wake up in shower and saying it was all a dream."

Oh crikey. So one reason that awful Zuck is somehow right that people want videos is because people can't actually read new things?
ever since I learned about three-cueing I've developed infinitely more patience for replies on social media. mfers literally do not know how to read. people are walking around conjuring random meanings into words they don't know, and they don't know a lot of words. it's crazy

So a guy I know is a single issue voter. And that issue is that AoNZ should be a country with a single set of rights regardless as to race.
So he votes ACT.

Disagrees on tax, guns, etc, but this one issue is enough.

Seymour, and the money sources that made him, is such a curse.

Well, this is quite a serious allegation. I do hope the BBC shows true impartiality and investigate whether or not some of its Board members are systemically biased. www.theguardian.com/media/2025/n...

It's no longer extreme weather. It's weather.
Torrential rainfall in the Brazilian city of Belem flooded pavements outside the venue for the #COP30 climate talks. Scientists say climate change is making extreme weather events more common.

Mme Mangetout has taken to watching Great British Bake-Off, which I'd never watched.

A reasonable percentage appears to be people of various accents laughing at the word "buns", so it's surprising I haven't seen it before.

I dunno.

You run a bank well, and everyone complains.
You run a bank badly, and everyone complains.

Yes, obscene profits are obscene, but we don't want any of the banks to actually fail, do we?

Big truth in many contexts.
Gary Lineker: "This is the mistake the BBC makes. The BBC tries to appease the people that hate the BBC, rather than worrying about the people that love the BBC."

One part of me wants them to run on this because it is, objectively, a terrible idea.

But terrible ideas have won too many elections.

I suppose we should be grateful. Captain Kirk would've tried to sleep with it.
For science, obv.
I guess I need to apologize to the writers of Alien: Prometheus. it turns out scientists really do touch everything like that
