And I thought my generation had it bad, in comparison we basically had a free ride.
This is absolutely shocking. Something has to be done about this appalling situation in which so many now find themselves. The government needs to act

Sometimes the urge overtakes you to watch a certain movie. I got that with The Matrix so Monday night is Matrix night.
I can still remember the feeling watching it for the first time on release and how incredible it was to see Bullet time...and how cool that phone was. I always wanted the phone.

Redditor posted a thread with his dogs brain scan, which showed that his dog had a brain that was 95% fluid. And then he posted this photo of the dog and yeah, makes sense.

We've got tickets, @lydscl.bsky.social has a hardback and paperback to be signed.
Paging Cardiff folks who enjoy alternative history/crime novels: @jamesbluecat.bsky.social is going to be giving a talk on Pagans at the Cardiff Waterstones next month, which should be a very interesting evening. If you haven’t read it yet, this is your cue! www.waterstones.com/events/pagan...

Look what people can do. Look for the hope. Look for the helpers.
The people of Minnesota have executed one of the most impressive civil resistance campaigns I can remember:

- Organized a city wide general strike
- Maintained nonviolent discipline amidst violence
- Mobilized 10,000s in subzero temps to protest and watch ICE
- Flipped public opinion against ICE

There were six or seven agents, trying to harm a man who looks unarmed and still they murdered him in broad daylight. These ICE agents are venal, incompetent, cowardly and this type of execution will keep on happening because they are an unchecked paramilitary force of scared men who crave power.

A seller on Amazon to avoid if you're getting books.

Unbound did authors & readers dirty, with royalties never paid &, unless I'm mixing them up with one of the other ghastly publishers, preorders never delivered.

Treat their editions like they're coverless & stolen unless direct from the author.
They don't exist any more, so there's no danger of giving them money. But if you buy any of the remaining Unbound books by ex-Unbound authors, the authors get nothing. A company called OOINYA is selling them on Amazon, and should be avoided.

More adventures with Mr Poirot and Little Miss Marple coming next month! You can pre-order them now! - Michael

Perfect grey and rainy January Sunday.
We've had a nice bacon and egg lunch, and @lydscl.bsky.social and i are now watching the most excellent 2015 edition of And Then There Were None as she finished the book yesterday. It's raining and we don't need to leave the house. This is what sundays are for.

These are apparently facial reconstructions of a 2,300-year-old Pazyryk Scythian male and female from the same kurgan in Berel, Kazakhstan and not - as I first thought - that couple I met at a Spiral Tribe soundsystem in 1992 who sold me E that turned out to be paracetamol.

Oh my god, @abeewords.bsky.social on Women’s Hour right now! Her Grave Expectations series (a freelance medium solves crimes with the help of the ghost of her teenage years best friend) is just wonderful. Very funny, very moving, very clever.

One of the best concerts I've been to was Alexandre Desplat conducting a variety of his scores at the Barbican and it had a q&a beforehand. Amazing experience - the Godzilla theme and Statues from HPATDH Part 2 live can't be beaten.

This, to me is an example of how the BBC doesn't help itself. He wasn't banned for calling Islam satanic, he was banned for dozens of inappropriate, homophobic and bigoted statements that created a safeguarding concern. But that's not the BBCs direction of travel is it.

Just bought this - absolutely right up my alley and fits a reading prompt for 2026 - the Buzzword cover challenge for January - internal body part!
So, this happened today...

It's not great having to ask for help - but if you've enjoyed any of our books, we'd be hugely grateful if you could let people know about them (and where you can buy them)

Word of mouth is... pretty important, right now
