2h 10m of trick or treating. Loads of really polite and well behaved kids, none grabbing handfuls of sweets. Love trick or treating on my estate, it's a really family based evening.

Pull up a chair, please. I think it's time to have a talk about book jackets. Particularly modern book jackets. Especially in the UK, and particularly in the crime genre. My sense is that publishers haven't known how to jacket crime novels since the 20th century. I have evidence.

I work in substance use services, and we are open access to encourage anyone who needs help to come in. The thought of someone abusing that to walk in and film some very vulnerable people without us knowing makes my blood run cold. The safeguarding implications are enormous.
