Something neat that Game Arts did (Grandia, Lunar) is update NPC interactions for every single major plot event. In Lunar SSSC, you can go back to towns you don't even NEED to revisit and every single NPC convo is updated to match the current state of the plot. Really impressive for a 90s JRPG
