Imo, we’re starting to see the downstream effects of people losing literacy skills because I’m increasingly coming across grown people who have trouble understanding speech or arguments that can’t be explained in a 90 second or less video as well as points that are tangential or hypothetical.
Literacy rates dropping to middle school levels is a key reason for that. Folks keeps misunderstanding viewpoints, so the constant dumbing down of verbiage is occurring.
So uh, is it just me or has the general ability for people to communicate in writing fallen dramatically over the last few years?
