This appears to be true and it gives me the bad chills.
As Rupert Murdoch TV hammers away telling its viewers that Canadians are their enemies, Republican views of Canada shift on cue. At this point, Murdoch's propaganda machine can make its viewership believe absolutely anything, no matter how absurd.

Striking paper from researchers at Anthropic using a randomised control trial to look at the effects of AI use on skills acquisition.

TL:DR ‘We found that using AI assistance led to a statistically significant decrease in mastery.’

I can't put into words the feeling of watching our government, a hive of evil antisocial filth, the absolute worst humanity has to offer, colliding with the best. Ordinary people trying to help each other, risking everything to stand up for what's plainly, unambiguously fair and right. It's unreal

Now that the White House is using AI to edit photos of their political opponents to create fascist propaganda I’m wondering if anyone could have seen this use of AI coming. Okay I’m hearing lots of people did and they were forced to watch corporations smother the masses with the technology anyways

We collect far less data than most OECD countries and we have no way of measuring a lot of stuff we need to measure. Carney knows that an ignorant population is a docile population. He's ensuring we stay ignorant.
Quite frankly, it’s outrageous that Mark Carney is cutting Statistics Canada. If he was Stephen Harper or Pierre Poilievre, I feel like this would be getting a lot more backlash.

Carney of all people should know the importance of high-quality data and information about the country.

Other municipalities process these in days, sometimes weeks

If one of the ostensible concerns of gov’t officials etc. re abandoning X is that it’s a platform to get messaging out (itself questionable) wouldn’t simply simultaneously crossposting to other platforms like Threads and Bluesky provide a pathway off X *and* meet constituents where they are?
