I know he decided to disappear many years ago, but at least we knew he was out there, being silently brilliant. Damn.
Oh no. Tom Lehrer gone. At his great age, it’s not a tragedy, I know, but it just does feel bad not having his genius in the world.

So much Honda love. 115k miles on my old Civic and it’s still the most reliable member of the household.

Food bank charity Trussell Trust says in the last 5 years there’s been a 46% rise in emergency food parcels provided to families with children

New figures suggest 1.8 million were given out last year (compared to the year before that’s an 8% decrease)

They're talking about "water based" cooking now. Cooking things in water instead of oils. It's soup. They're making soup.

I went to the Tate Modern yesterday. In the Rothko room with all the Serious Art Connoisseurs there was a ~5 year old kid who walked up to each painting, pointed at it and shouted 'RECTANGLE' at each one in turn, then left the room.

So, wait. For basically ever, men were earning way more than their female counterparts, and the messaging was that women were "too emotional" or whatever. And the second women start earning more than men, men completely lose their shit and it's a "crisis" "gripping" them? What a bunch of losers.
Young women are now consistently earning more than their male counterparts for the first time, according to a report that warns of a social “crisis” gripping young men

The joy of not caring whether you’re good at something. Loved this story, even before the perfectly imperfect pots.
POTS! Look at my pots!

They are wonky, the sides and bottoms aren’t smooth, the glaze is uneven in places. I can see every flaw with every last one.

And I don’t care. Because they are mine and I made them with my paws.

I recently questioned #BBC political journalists’ approach to scrutiny of #Reform’s policies+said if #NigelFarage was not rigorously challenged until the run-up to the next election, it would be too late. It seems Wes Streeting agrees. It’s time for the BBC to step up, IMO. 👇🏻

Good plan. A long hot soak in Cabin Pressure is what I need this week.
Strong move. This should be filed with The Goons and Round The Horne and The Burkiss Way and On The Hour in the 'All Time Greats' column. John Finnemore is one of the best writers of comedy of our time.
I’ve used my Audible credit to get series 1 of Cabin Pressure after meaning to listen to it for approximately 15 years. I need something nice but quality to listen to this afternoon when I’m recovering from being brutalised at the dentist and people I trust in these matters tell me it’s brilliant.

Being a person with deadly, incurable cancer who is nonetheless still alive for an indefinite timeframe gives me an interesting metaphor that helps me deal with things like large-scale corruption in government or commerce.

Bear with me for a second while I try to explain.
