"it was a calculated withdrawal, from the life of the Republic, from its machinery. Since they could not have withdrawn into a vacuum (could they?), there had to exist the separate, silent, unsuspected world."
holy rabbit hole.
A video (with zero views) that looks and sounds like AI, that defends the real art against AI art in a video game (this latest 2D God of War) that looks precisely like a game made by AI.

I wrote a tribute for BYTE Magazine's amazing cover artist, Robert Tinney, who died Feb 1st

Tinney painted 80 vivid and surreal covers illustrating various concepts in early personal computing from 1978-1990, usually airbrushed with gouache. May he RIP ❤️

more seriously: dumb investor money has moved to AI. The quality of the game, here, is irrelevant.
This one was just the lowest hanging fruit, to rot. Simple and predictable.

hilariously stupid denial or sarcasm?
That VGA trailer will serve as a case study of great video game marketing disasters for years to come.

No amount of refreshingly fun (and often hilariously hectic) gameplay loops, great-feeling movement and lovely art can save a game from the deep-rooted desire within gamers to sneer at something.

copyright laws were always only meant to protect the rich
‘Deadpool & Wolverine’ writer Rhett Reese reacts to viral AI video of Tom Cruise and Brad Pitt fighting:

“I hate to say it. It’s likely over for us.”

lol, this is just another scheme to appropriate and feed more data to their AI clients
age verification is merely a distraction
this is a nothing statement and not a walk back, they're just repeating what was already in the initial press release and they said the same thing in the interviews they gave to certain outlets

this will keep happening (not the withdrawal, the attempt)
Microsoft has withdrawn their DMCA claim! The game is back up on Steam! Allumeria is back! Thank you EVERYONE for your support. It's hard to comprehend that a single post in my discord would lead to so many people expressing support. Thank you <3 #gamedev #indiedev

let's do some math, 1600 people multiplied for 200 books = 320.000 romance novels a year. Every year.
Who's gonna read this shit?
Don't you realize that it all goes naturally to zero?

The Super Bowl is chock full of AI ads and, from the bottom of my heart, I hope every single company humoring this shit goes bankrupt in glorious fashion, and that the marketing firms responsible for pitching this fuck-awful slop spends the rest of their miserable days fighting off lawsuits.

"being grateful for reinforcing prejudices"
My Dragon Quest VII Reimagined article's now live on @pcgamer.com! After decades (!!) of being put off by the game's infamous length, I was not just grateful for, but also thoroughly enjoyed, this more streamlined new take:

I'm glad I waited 25 years to play the longest Dragon Quest game
Dragon Quest 7 Reimagined is a streamlined and remarkably unsentimental remake.

Aahh, but, you see, you are delusional if you think AI leads to abundance.
Just OBSERVE. All around you, both hardware and software are coming to a grinding HALT.
AI is single-handedly disrupting human progress.
Everything's turning to shit, VERY RAPIDLY. It's kind of obvious too.
