"it was a calculated withdrawal, from the life of the Republic, from its machinery. Since they could not have withdrawn into a vacuum (could they?), there had to exist the separate, silent, unsuspected world."
the big problem with all Paradox games is that you take one title across its 10-years lifecycle, and it will have a period of just 6 months where the game actually works properly without some major roadblock.
And to figure out that rare sweet spot you have to have played 5000 hours.

Being gargantuan is the whole point of DQVII. It's a magnificent journey where even in the middle you look back in awe at how much has already happened, how many people you've met, and how many stories you've taken part in. Streamlining it is not a great idea

Anyway here is my review of Alan Moore’s last two projects. I enjoyed them a lot and think he is a remarkable talent, one of those people you’re grateful is alive and making new work about the world you live in. He has a new fantasy novel out in May, I’m excited for it.

yay, just got in my hands the hardcover of Danielewski's Tom's Crossing.
Thin but excellent paper. I'm surprised that it uses a rather big font. I don't even know how it's possible for it to be a 545k words novel.
As a book-object it's a masterclass on how you publish a novel of this size.

Mamdani's victory is likely the trigger of why this is happening: the Democratic establishment has always been corrupt and instrumental to Trump. This is their way to send a message & reassert control.
The type of fascism Trump represents never comes to power without the other side being COMPLICIT.

more and more, the facade of thinking like realpolitik seems to have faded away and all we see is mask off Ideology.
there's been so many political events in the usa that make no coherent sense in political science unless you realize it's just been people in power doing heinous shit for themselves.
