Together with the ACLU of NorCal, we are challenging the reported lack of public access to immigration court in Concord, CA. Any decision to abruptly cut off public access to immigration proceedings would contravene the First Amendment and federal law.

Concord Immigration Court has jurisdiction over a large swath of California’s Central Valley (aka America’s bread basket). Immigration hearings are currently restricted to those with "official business." This is not normal. It violates the court’s own rules, federal law, and the U.S. Constitution.

So, the Biden admin issued some regs that sought to make a dent in spam calls. The 11th Cir struck them down, and the Trump admin was uninterested in seeking rehearing or otherwise engaging on this. So.
I maintain that if Kamala had just said that on day 1 she would drone strike scam callers she would have won 50 states
this makes me feel the same impotent rage, to the point of my mental health genuinely suffering, that i felt when we had 105+ degree days for a week and a half last summer

Can we all just please stop accepting this insane notion that the ABA is somehow now a changed leftist organization because it stood for the rule of law (as opposed to the administration going so far right it is off the rails?).

Do we need a refresher on ABA history?

car crashes are so common that we tune them out whereas subway crime is so shocking that it usually goes viral
yes. also our brains were not evolved to watch a recording of a video of something happening and distinguish it from the experience of watching something actually happening. this is why my job (film editor) exists, but it is very bad for people determining the prevalence of certain kinds of events
The modern media ecosystem exacerbates the problem, but this is a broader problem inherent in having brains evolved for groups of a couple hundred existing in interconnected societies of hundreds of millions. If you grew up in the 80s you can think of plenty of pre-Internet examples.

The same appreciation for both genders, is that still asked too much for certain organisations in 2025?

The prior version of the Outback was already an SUV. I will die on this hill.

(We test drove one while shopping for a station wagon, and a station wagon it was clearly not.)
The 2026 Subaru Outback is ... a crossover.

• No more Legacy-based wagon
• 2 inches taller
• Modified WRX steering system

Love it or hate it?

Just to remind everyone: this is *our* fucking money--locally raised tax dollars--that Congress simply won't let our government spend, for no reason other than spite.

This is why DC needs statehood. But also, this is just petty, petty bullshit by House Republican leadership.
BIG NEWS: D.C. Mayor Muriel Bowser is imposing "extraordinary measures" to close the budget gap created by Congress. Those include freezes on spending, hiring, promotions, overtime, and some contracts. She's also planning for possible furloughs and facility closures.
