Ooh, I didn't realise that @ptes-org.bsky.social have a 'map your log pile' bit of citsci going on (in relation to Great Stag Beetle Hunt, but the habitat is generally brill for wood boring beetles etc); need to incorporate that into my habitat stuff!

Lots of laceweb spiders making their homes in the old mortar of #wollaton park boundry walls. Plus plenty of moss, lichen and small plants making use of the surfaces.
Gracefully-aging masonry = urban biodiversity habitats!
A section of old red brick wall, still strong but showing some age. Clumps of bright green moss and pale lichens are scattered across the surface. Three spider webs are set into holes in the mortar between bricks; the dark tunnels of the retreata contrasting with the silvery-blue silk of the webbing, spread out about an inch from each hole in messy, scrunched up lace.

With Girlguides and the WI announcing that the new laws are forcing them to exclude trans girls and women, it seems like a good time for any cis women who haven't signed Not In Our Name yet to do so. Stand with our sisters.

Manged to pick up the current cold during travelling about (thanks, trains) and OOF it has knocked me over this week. Just had to lie on the floor breathing Deliberately after a 10min sneezing marathon. Considerably more unpleasant than my last round of covid.
Do not recommend.
