Nothing to see here folks, just a sitting president investing in two companies whose merger he claims sole authority to approve or reject. Totally normal! 🙃

When sitting Governors and a Mayors talk about what the federal government is doing, that's of course a felony.

But when the outgoing President conspires for weeks to overturn an election he lost then tells a crowd to storm the Capitol, that's of course a sacred and protected "official act."

🫠
The very dutiful transcription of the fact that DOJ is launching an investigation into Walz and Frey doesn't exhibit the least critical thinking about what the crime was.

CBS at least names it but ... think about this, folks.

Felony saying mean things?

"Worse than Bush after Katrina" is a polling benchmark that I thought that partisan polarization had made impossible
Pollster: 58% of Americans say Trump's second term has been a failure. A year into term number two, Trump's numbers look worse than any other president. Trump is even worse than George W. Bush after Katrina and a long period in the Iraq War. This is really, really bad.

This is exactly what is happening we are in a hyper normalizing environment for the fascists and they are doing all they can to reset the levels of acceptability to include murder and firing live ammo into crowds of unarmed protestors. They are building the infrastructure needed for bloodshed.
They're escalating the violence to recalibrate our outrage needles. Because the higher our tolerance for abuse, the more harm they'll be free to do.

So, don't let the "little" stories stop upsetting you.

this crystallizes why, despite truly heroic solidarity and activism, i can’t quite get in the “we’re going to win” mindset right now. the harm is so active and there’s so much violence we don’t even know about. people are being turned into ghosts.

Trump thought he could intimidate Minnesotans and that we would react with riots. Instead, we showed up with compassion, resilience, and strength.

We showed the country what real resistance looks like.

Positively shocked that the house magazine of the Manhattan Institute is upset that my book refuses to attribute America's record-high homelessness to "personal choices"—rather than, say, rents outpacing income gains by 325 percent since 1985.

This is good! I hate that it even has to be ruled on in the first place, but this establishes future legal grounds for cases against these mfers as well as strengthens observers rights. This kind of stuff isn't a fix when ice acts like lawless heathens, but it can still be powerful stuff.

I went on a ride along with Will today because I was trying to understand how a mobile patrol works. If you've ever fantasized about being either Spider-Man or Ned Leeds I would recommend going to Defend612 to volunteer. (Spider-Man: patrol. Ned Leeds: dispatch/notetaking/plate checks.)
I don’t want to jinx anything, but ICE presence in South Minneapolis has been MASSIVELY down the last two days, and also far less militarized. Very few masks and uniforms, and efforts to disguise their vehicles. Community watch has been suffocating them, I think.

For @msnownews.bsky.social, I wrote an article about how ICE Watch is grounded in sociological theories of violence prevention.

The reality is that most men will only commit public violence in extremely specific scenarios and ICE Watch disrupts the conditions necessary for escalation.
