Think about how annoyed you get when your connection is bad and photos aren't loading so you don't know what people are talking about.

That's what Blind people regularly have to deal with when you fail to copy and paste text from your articles into alt text, fellow journalists.
what is the deal with so many journalists on here refusing to use alt text.

get it together, y'all. honestly. it's not that hard. just scan the damn text with your phone, copy it, and paste it. do people not know how to do that???

Our new Mayor uses alt text? Most politicians and journalists can't be bothered. Amazing! Thanks!
This morning, Ms. Rachel and I visited District 2 Pre-K Center, where we sang and read with the wonderful students and educators. We also discussed universal childcare - and how we're making it happen for NYC!

Also, being a high profile person doesn't exempt you from the responsibility of providing access.
Breaking news isn't a reason to skip alt text. Alt text is MORE important in a crisis.

Imagine how disorienting this is, now imagine not being able to see what all these viral posts depict.

I'm suing the Trump administration for making it harder to protect consumers by illegally trying to defund the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau.
Nearly 2 dozen states sue the Trump administration over funding for CFPB
The attorneys general say the Trump administration is refusing to accept funding for the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau, which could hurt consumers in their states.

Are any of my qualitative research folks around?
Folks who specialize in Qual analysis (interviews)...what software are you using now? My uni stopped providing NVivo licenses. I would rather put my $ toward something cheaper if there are other good options (that *don't* require i give them my transcripts for them to use as AI training grounds)

The advances we've made in statistics, experimental study design, and causal inference over the past century are remarkably useful for understanding our world. But there is never been a push to make people use them like we are seeing with generative AI. Perhaps take a moment to consider why.
