I finally have gotten around to turning my google doc of where to buy masks in Aus into a proper page that's sortable and filterable. I'm keen to add more places that sell masks if you have bought from anywhere else! masks.lizduckchong.com

With Meanjin, my guess is that MUP are just waiting till the fuss blows over. To help keep the fuss going, you could write directly to:

-the chair of the MUP board, Warren Bebbington -warren.bebbington@unimelb.edu.au.
-the Vice-Chancellor, Uni of Melbourne, Emma Johnston - vc@unimelb.edu.au.

Call me Tally Ho pilled but they're one of the few things left on YouTube that, upon seeing a new video, I find a time to sit and watch it with no distractions. Just sweet, excellent watching.

MUP says it is ‘no longer viable’ to make the literary magazine – but almost none of them are financially viable. That’s not their purpose or value

It beggars belief that MUP are scrapping Meanjin *entirely*. Could it not even continue as an online journal? And what will happen to the vast and essential archive on its website? The decision is a stunning, appalling act of cultural vandalism which demands complete transparency and accountability.

This is shocking news. Literary magazines - and all the other small orgs now under pressure or closing or gone - are the bedrock of culture and their ongoing costs are barely a blip in any institutional budget. Melbourne University ought to be ashamed www.crikey.com.au/2025/09/04/m...
Literary journal Meanjin to close after 85 years of publishing
Meanjin, a mainstay of Australia's cultural landscape and the nation's second-oldest literary publication, is shuttering after Melbourne University Publishing decided to cease financial support.

It’s ludicrous and insulting to suggest that the richest university in Australia can’t afford the two part-time wages to run Meanjin.
Also: did they even try to save it? Donation drive? Philanthropic efforts? Offering it to another institution?
No.
The university council shut it down intentionally.
