One of the lessons I've been learning the last couple years is that celebrating yourself is a skill just like anything else. Some people were raised in houses where they picked this up organically, and others (like me) have to train themselves to stop and properly recognize their accomplishments.

I can't speak to everywhere but when I was working in California 100k was classified as low income/near poverty by the city I was working under. All it means is that you're incredibly susceptible to financial hardship.
I’m not here to diminish anyone’s experience but mine was definitely in response to a few things I’ve seen that indicate everyone is poor unless very comfortably wealthy and while the spectrum is shifting, there is still a spectrum.

When yall say things like everyone is poor it makes me realize that you have not actually looked poverty in the face.
It is absolutely disingenuous for anyone to liken him/herself to people who cannot pay bills, who are unhoused, who truly have empty cupboards, who do not have warm sheets.

Hmm, based on your response I'm guessing I came off judgemental. Not my intention at all. I really do find the mindset of praise kink people intriguing, and I've got no moral judgement on it.

I don't think I have a desire to separate the two tbh. For me it's no different than not having a man call me "my bitch." Nothing inherently wrong with the words, but yeah for me those societal dynamics don't just disappear.
If you don’t think so then a man saying it to you wouldn’t be a negative, regardless of societal power dynamics. To me. It is rooted in fantasy as well but I understand if some can’t separate the two.
