Being in the US without status is civil infraction, not a crime. People are subject to the penalty of deportation, but not to criminal punishment.

Look at that car.
This is the aftermath of an ICE kidnapping a few blocks from my home in St. Paul—an hour ago. A quiet street full of broken glass and at least three wrecked cars. The target of the kidnapping was taken away by ambulance. He was on a stretcher and covered by a sheet, though a cop said he was alive.

“I had many conversations with people who arrived in Victoria, saw the mountains and the ocean and the sunshine and then concluded that the city’s best feature was the comparative ease of finding a parking space.” 🤣
YIMBYs and urbanists often make the point that you should let people live where they want: near jobs, schools and amenities. I'd like to make a special case for Canada: we should let people live where the weather is good!

I am daily grateful for my commute, though I look forward to switching from bus/ ferry to bike/ ferry when winter ends. Two stops I can make if I have 5 minutes to spare: O’Bees in Alderney Landing (also Port City for $2 dark roast) and Carrefour Atlantic in the Historic Properties.

I am peddling good coffee at the Windsor Forum market today - a volunteer gig connected to time I spent in Guatemala 30 years ago.
There is an abundance of great sourdough bread, quality produce, eggs, and lots of room to sit and enjoy the coffee. Come make a vendor’s day.

I’ll start with the question that sparked my idea to do this:

Q: What is happening outside of the frame of the videos of ICE and ICE Watch? Is it protests? Or is there no one else there?

Exactly right, and therefore important not to give credit for an investigation of an obvious atrocity. Appropriate responses are apologies, resignations, firings, impeachments. The individuals who killed people should be tried before a judge and jury.
Okay, so this is an authoritarian playbook trick, once the evidence is overwhelming say everyone needs to wait for the official investigation then either fix it or attack it when its completed. Same shit Russian pulled with MH17 and chemical attacks in Syria, very predictable.
Reporter: Will Stephen Miller be apologizing to the family of Alex Pretti for calling him an assassin?

Leavitt: This incident remains under investigation.

We deserve this too. We’re so used to being told to pull up our bootstraps by people who never bought their own boots for anything that we’ve come to accept that these ideas are too much to want.
Stable rent. Affordable necessities. Free childcare. Free busses. This is the bare minimum that people deserve and people really act like he has outlandish ideas.
