I talked to @anneapplebaum.bsky.social about the role that politicizing the public sector and civil service plays:
“It’s a red flag when you see so many people saying, My god. This is so illegal that we cannot, in good conscience, stick around any longer.”

“Diehard democrat” blaming everyone but the predators.

Fuck you, Yvette.
It’s not a question of judgment. I don’t understand letting your child go off with strangers. We’re not talking one night. We’re talking allowing them to go on planes for trips. Just because children come from a divorced home generally doesn’t mean their parents don’t care about them.

Here is Konni Burton, a conservative former state Senator from the area who was a central part of the Tarrant County Tea Party, agreeing that a Rehmet win would be a 9.5 on the Richter scale.

So… a bribe?

Trump got $500 Million and U.A.E. got “tightly guarded” A.I. chips. How is this not a bribe, exactly?

It's not a dummymander when a 30 point swing means you get wiped out. That's just plain old getting nuked, no map can save you.

32 point swing in a Texas election with the winner being outraised 2.3 million to 350k. That is difficult to encapsulate. There are people in the republican infrastructure *freaking* out right this second.

Well would you look at that. CBP and ICE agents deploying chemical weapons against protestors, dragging people from their vehicles, breaking down their doors, and killing people doesn't play well in elections.

Even in ruby red, heavily gerrymandered Texas, fascism isn't sexy. People don't want it.

Good luck doing that in Texas—they’ve been hermetically sealed to Trump’s butthole for so long I don’t think that any of them still know how to stand. I hope November wipes them all out.

JUST IN: Democrats flip a red seat in the Texas Senate.

Taylor Rehmet wins against Leigh Wambsganss, a conservative activist who helped lead right-wing efforts to take over TX school boards.

With all early vote, and 95% of precincts, in, Dem up 57/43.

Leigh Wambsganss raised nearly $2.3 million for the SD9 district, much of it coming from three billionaire-funded PACs.

Taylor Rehmet raised $346,000, most of it coming from donations of $100 or less. His biggest donor gave him $12K, and a bunch of local unions also cut him larger checks.

Look back at my posts from before November 2024 I warned all unions that if they support Trump he will not defend them he will not back them he does not pay his contracts he has over 4000 cases from the past for non payments of completed contracts.

Tarrant County is the largest red county in the nation. I cannot emphasize enough how big this is. Rehmet winning this race against Wambsganss would be an earthquake of Biblical proportions.

I just got tear gassed along with thousands of union members, many of whom had their families with them. Federal agents at the ICE facility tear gassed children. We must abolish ICE, DHS, and we must have prosecutions. I expect to see enforcement of our city code prohibiting the use of tear gas.

Wow, buckle up.

The early vote just came in Tarrant County, and Democrat Taylor Rehmet is up 56% to 44% in the special election for a Texas state Senate seat.

This is a seat that went for Trump by 17%. This would be a huge upset.

This is already 45K votes.

Interesting bit of detail here.
In the final days of the campaign, Leigh Wambsganss, the far-right, billionaire-backed candidate, spent $310,000.

Rehmet spent $0.
‼️‼️ Still a lot TBD, but Rehmet is leading early vote count by **13 POINTS** in a district that Trump won by 17 points. I'll be updating in this thread throughout the night.
