Spending two years trying to get a save game file for The Hunter out of Nvidia's cloud gaming platform, and finally succeeding by changing item names in a loadout to their own name and address so it was classed as personal data, then filing a GDPR Subject Access Request to get hold of it.

Twice.

my current xscreensaver unlock routine is ctrl-alt-f1, log in on new console, systemctl --user restart xscreensaver, ctrl-d, ctrl-alt-f7. I'm sure someone will fix the pam thing but in the meantime I've never felt more in tune with the unix philosophy

seems like another all-to-understandable clash of expectations between the "sharing what I'm tinkering on with others on github is fun!" crowd and the "surely everybody else in the world is also getting paid six figures to ensure five nines on my app" crowd

i think if you fail a captcha there should be a button where it rings up a live google engineer who you get to drag into a completely pointless argument about what it means for a square to have a traffic light or a bicycle

half hoping for bsky to turn to shit soon so we can stop talking about how the app that's still in the happily-burning-money phase is less user hostile than the desperate-for-profitability incumbents

it's probably somewhat damning of the trajectory of my mental state that pretty much since they invented 3d printers ive been going "i can think of so many useful things i want to print, i need to get around to that as soon as im doing a little better"

i'm still irrationally pleased that you can go to docs.new and sheets.new to make new documents in google drive. someone went out of their way to get some whole domains to cut like one pageload and two clicks out of a not so frequent workflow. but it feels so good.
