COMIC: Shaderunners.com 🍸💚 Queer Prohibition heist fantasy comic about bootlegging bottled colour, nearing the end of its decade-long run!
I am unfortunately the type of person who rolls up to the F1 movie, sees Tobias Menzies in the credits, and goes "fuck yea fellas we got a movie" to my indifferent roommate who has multiple times suffered through my annual Tides of March Terror re-watch.

Yeah why would we trust famously unsuccessful show runner Rebecca Sugar with this one?
Sony, the company that sold 'KPop Demon Hunters' for a song, has scrapped a Thai folklore-inspired feature from 'Amphibia' creator Matt Braly and 'Steven Universe' creator Rebecca Sugar two years into development, calling it “not commercial enough.”

I as a literature professor am on my knees begging people not to turn Wuthering Heights into a comfortable moral parable. It is neither a bland moralistic warning about 'toxic love' nor is it a model for healthy love. The brilliance of that book is that it resists binary thinking at every turn.

We have 12 days to go on our crowdfund for WHAT ELEGANT STARS and still need to raise about $7k. We've just added a reward "add-on" for a short story critique with editor dave ring if that would be of interest.

We also still have two Benefactor Rewards at $1k that would be incredibly impactful.

there's so much disrespect of romance writers and romance readers baked into the idea that AI-driven production of novels is 'better'. as if writing romance isn't skillful, hard and joyous work. as if romance readers aren't discerning, loyal and savvy.

This is still so dazzlingly beautiful and just a genius combo of colours and personalities! I wish there was an animated show that looked like this 💕🍸
Really miss doing mixed media sketch pages like this. This is fanart I did years ago inspired by @lindarrow.bsky.social 's Caro Cho and the Empire of Light short story 💿🚬🌆

Watched the 1962 Czech film The Fabulous Baron Munchausen, casually discovering one of the most vibrant films I've ever seen, which feels like it's trying to evoke corrupted old film stock's most alien combinations

Of all the easy things you can do to help the environment, conserve water for communities not corporations, not perpetuate scams, support the labor and rights of creators... *not* using generative AI is the fucking easiest. You absolutely deserve to be shamed for using it for image and text creation

Yet more Pride and Prejudice covers! For last, I've saved two lovely and colourful ones, and one where Elizabeth has apparently been sent off to war.

More fun vintage Pride and Prejudice covers! This time we get ominous Twilight-esque marketing, a curiously cardboard-focused design, and one where Darcy is looming over Lizzy's bonnet like a shark.

Please buy books that are coming out this year.

Doesn’t have to be mine. But there is a stellar release calendar this year especially of Black writers and it would be a shame if one of the fascist victories was people not buying those books (from the indies that are in the fight with us). #BookSky

Look at these vintage pulp covers of Jane Austen's Pride and Prejudice my roommate discovered! Can't decide if I prefer the Vegas Wedding vibes, the Andy Warhol/pop art affair, or Gothic rake Darcy. Vote now?

When you have a friend this talented and wonderful you hold onto them with all your might.
Today marks mine and @lindarrow.bsky.social 's 16th anniversary as friends & creative soulmates!

I lucked out with the best possible collaborator. I can't even imagine where I would be today without Lin's friendship & artistic influence. Lin, I love you and I hope we make comics together forever 🩷

2025, I got really into learning about high-altitude mountaineering, which often involves something called a Death Zone. Opening my heart to the universe to send me another niche interest for 2026 because by now all my friends have heard me dramatically recount the discovery of Sandy Irvine's foot.

I think Barbara Stanwyck was maybe the coolest woman who ever lived.
Who has watched DOUBLE INDEMNITY (1944) recently? Thoughts? 🎥

I'm teaching a university class next year exclusively on Baldur's Gate 3 and I kind of can't believe my amazing English department is letting me do it!! Yes I am going to assign my students fantasy races, classes, and romances.

One day somebody NEEDS to write a dissertation about the royalist politics of these 'fake European sovereign nation Christmas romance' movies where Americans can live out the fantasies of marrying into royalty unburdened by any meaningful politics or histories.

The best part of 12 Angry Men is Juror #8 smiling as he instigates fights between the other jurors like Noemi Malone starting a fist fight on the dance floor at a nightclub.

Look I’m not trying to sound egotistical but I just feel like if I was there during the Salem witch trials with all those girls screaming about being collectively cold, I’d be the one going “guys this is dumb.” I just really think I’d be That Bitch in the witch club.

My #1 fav romcom trope is the pathologically boundary-trampling friend who lives exclusively to force the protagonist into various dream situations and never once thinks of wearing the dress, going for the promotion or dating the senator herself.
