I saw Re-Animator (85) at a theatre! I love how often someone grabs Herbert like a misbehaving cat & goes "HERBERT NO" because this man refuses to stop doing outrageous unethical science, will not apologize for his outrageous unethical science, & will not be denied his outrageous unethical science.

I'm so excited to announce that I have a book series officially forthcoming! It's Beetlejuice x Bladerunner but make it Queer, funny and romantic, about ghosts technologically resurrected and left to navigate dead end jobs to support themselves. TY to @LucienneDiver!

Third film for #CIFF: Hedda, a Sapphic adaptation of Ibsen's Hedda Gabbler that updates the play from the 19th Century to the 1950s. I felt it was a bit psychologically restrained, but the recasting of Lovborg as a woman is genius; genuinely elevating to already great material.

Second film at #CIFF: Blue Moon, about Lorenz Hart trying to keep it together on the opening night of Oklahoma! Marathon Ethan Hawke performance. A movie about the pains of collaboration & the agony of popular inoffensive art. 2 scenes made me absolutely lose it--spoilers in 🧵

Seeing some films at #CIFF! First up: Kiss of the Spider-Woman. I liked the central paradox, that we can't live without fantasy but, conversely, cannot /live/ in fantasies. But I thought the in-world film they're recreating together could have better evoked the style and look of old Hollywood.

Kpop Demon Hunters is really about the undeniable power of three girls walking together in a line.

You look like your day would be improved by photos of Groucho Marx staring adoringly up at tall women.

The plot, as per Letterboxd. All you really need to know is that Richard Burton and Elizabeth Taylor, real life married/divorced/married/divorced pairing, are possibly actually trying to destroy one another on film before your very eyes.

Reviewing Classic Vampires. Lord Ruthven, The Vampyre, 1819. Literally Byronic. Described as "profuse in his liberality," constantly enabling "the profligate" to wallow in lust and sink deeper into iniquity, seemingly for just the thrills. You have to respect it. 8/10.

The Greatest Show on Earth is considered one of the worst Best Picture winners, but I actually liked it. The dynamics between the three leads--two competing trapeze artists and their beleagured circus manager--are underdeveloped but have LOTS of potential. #rewritingBestPictureWinners

I'm late to the Baldur's Gate 3 party but the best part of the game is definitely Skittle the mercantile rat who sells you stolen goods via rat puns. Especially because he spawned behind a brick for me, so it looked like he was covertly beckoning me to trade goods.

Best Picture Oscar of 1944, Going My Way. This one is about an irascible priest full of gentle joie-de-vivre who makes a difference in his tough urban parish. My pitch is to make him a cheerful vampire who likes boater hats and baseball and playing piano. #rewritingBestPictureWinners

Kesh... I see so much potential in you... you spooky-faced space office manager. I'm just saying, I would have totally accepted the game telling me she's picking up a gun to go reinforce bylaws.

(Also, related: let us romance krogans and salarians, BioWare. Do you think I'm a coward?)
