Classics: Giovanni's room by james baldwin and passing by Nella larsen. YA Prose: Not for the faint of heart by lex croucher and the butterfly assassin by Finn Longman. Favourite non-fiction, braiding sweetgrass by Robin Wall kimmerer and refuse to be done by matt bell. Favourite audio, the river has roots by Amal el-mohtar. Most mindblowing, the spear cuts through water by Simon jimenez. Fave short stories, salt slow by julia armfield. 'Obsessed with these series': the tainted cup by robert jackson bennett, the murderbot books by martha wells, some aubrey-maturin books by patrick o'brian. Favourite queer comfort reads: the traitor and the wretch by jasmine walls, sorcery and small magics by maiga doocy, and hammajang luck by makana yamamoto

I do understand: you want permission. There’s a machine in the corner wrapped in human skin that makes things out of shit and blood to look like whatever you want (as long as you don’t look too closely). You gave one to your teacher and they didn’t notice. Your boss told you to use it after they laid off half the team and it was fine. You fed one to your kids and they liked it. You want to know you can use it sometimes without me thinking less of you. You don’t need me to believe it’s useful, you just want me to be polite about it.

On the whole I'm now too ill to draw traditionally or outdoors for very long, but I still like how directly my old drawings from sitting outside (these ones on the left are in pencil, from 2017) clearly fed into my comics (right, first page of Finding Home, 2017).

I pretty much learnt to draw in biro or fineliner on my schoolwork, so most of my drawings from 10+ years ago are only in pen

Hello. I'm an author/illustrator, currently making trans historical romance comics & inclusive fantasy gamebooks (think solo ttRPGs where you can befriend or kiss the monsters.)
