Though same reviewer talked about Fennell's films being calculated to create a Puritan backlash and honestly yes, people please stop falling for it. You absolutely would have Puritan backlashed 'Wuthering Heights' in 1847.

So, I know when we said we were going to do a deep dive into the origin of Wolverine, we implied that we would be discussing comic books, but that was absolutely a lie.

The 'Wuthering Heights is not a love story it's about toxic obsession' discourse comes from the same place as 'Romeo + Juliet is not a love story it's about stupid teenagers' discourse. at some point ppl just need to go back to watching the boringest Pride & Prejudice or whatever 'counts'

Ok i saw Wuthering Heights + it's probably gonna be my least favorite Emerald Fennell movie but it was fine + the changes from the book all make sense? If anything I would have liked more Fennellian nonsense (like EVERYTHING with Alison Oliver's Isabella, give me the story fro. HER pov)

Every time a tennis man shaves his head I worry for Jannik Sinner's luxuriant curls. Don't let Jack or Carlos convince you, Jannik.

lrt my work switched to gmail , which has issues obvs but at least i understand it and use it outside of work.

some ppl who didn't want to learn a new system complained and so after like 2 years we (not I) VOTED to switch back to Outlook which had domehow gotten worse in the interim.

boggles my mind the insane trajectory of the Microsoft Outlook user experience over the last 25 years. all it has to do is manage emails and a calendar but even the simplest tasks are like "RIDDLE ME THIS:" while one thousand clowns burn you with lit cigarettes in a hall of mirrors

Ok but Heated Rivalry does not exist without the hockey RPF > hockey romance pipeline. Like, yes don't make comments AT people or in the comments of their posts but 'keep it on tumblr or group chat not social media' is funny to be b/c Tumblr is social media ppl just expect Tumblr to be weird
NEW: “Real life is not a romance novel, and the athletes in these leagues are not fictional characters. In their enthusiasm to see their favorite show reflected in the real world, some ‘Heated Rivalry’ fans are behaving in ways that feel all kinds of icky.”
how 'heated rivalry' brought toxic fandom to the olympics
athletes do not exist to be used as objects by fans who want to escape into a feel-good fantasy

The thing is, social media came along about the time I quit being a full-time student + it's pretty easy to socialize as a student. It's adulthood I have trouble imagining without some kind of internet.
Before AI, before SM and even computers: What did you all used to do to combat loneliness and boredom? Who did you talk to (or did you need to talk to people)? How did you develop relationships?

Pretend this is a poll. For science.
I may make a pie chart.

You may laugh, but the Macbeths are a much better role model for a marriage than Romeo and Juliet. They discuss their problems (killing the king of Scotland), share their hobbies (killing the king of Scotland), and resolve their conflicts (by killing the king of Scotland).

I accept this is it turns out Rockford is actually Angel post-prophecy human incarnation.
But I don't want a Rockford Files reboot starring David Boreanaz

This was only okay - Halle Berry and especially Hemsworth are horribly miscast + Keoghan is doing too much for no reason + the story makes no sense - but still very watchable with car chases and a great schlubby Ruffalo performance. Ought to be rewarded for NOT being a streaming series.
Have the theater to myself for CRIME 101 which seems from the trailers like a movie from 1998 (complimentary)
