The Tennessee Secretary of State handed public library boards that are eager to ban LGBTQ+ books–and particularly trans books–from their collections the biggest permission slip last week.

Rutherford County is *closing* libraries to remove books.

The long-running ideological war on libraries, education, and government workers is not separate from AI boosterism. It is the same ideological war on human knowledge and expertise. In some cases AI is being used to directly supercharge this effort:

It's official. Nearly 7 million people. Today is the single largest day of protest in American history. Americans from all corners of the country are standing up and saying #NoKings. This is what peaceful, patriotic protest looks like.

Our Executive Director @librarylandia.bsky.social spoke with CBC about the Alberta government's censorship of comic books in schools.

Their attack on diverse voices is a continuation of how governments have historically exploited "moral panics" to threaten human rights. www.cbc.ca/news/canada/...
Alberta has banned graphic books before. In the 1950s, 'salacious' comics were the target | CBC News
In 1954, the province established the Advisory Board on Objectionable Publications to investigate "crime comics" that supposedly inspired undesirable behaviour in kids.
