May 2025 be the year everyone gets a library card.
Libraries are amazing third places and they get funding based on card holders and borrowing stats in most cases.
Pop in. Check something out.

P.S. The Libby app works on your phone/tablet. It has audibooks and regular books.
This might sound like a hot take but friends: Read books as a hobby this year. It is one of the best things you can do for your brain to grow your thinking and perspectives.
If you want to be anti-consumption get a library card.

Bonus: in places like UK/AoNZ/CA library copies pay authors

Nah all of the spiders are eaten by Spiders Georg #IYKYK
I remember reading somewhere that we eat 10 spiders in our lifetime just in sleep
Do you think this is the case only for coffee? Do you think you’ve never eaten a bug?

Yes, please do.
Normalize deleting your porn tabs before handing your phone to a librarian for help to print.

You have until midnight tonight folks. Get on it!!
Submitting on Seymour's Regulatory Standards bill.
The process he designed is full of leading questions & feels straight out of the Curia/ Farrar push poll playbook.
Better to email a submission. Mine will be short & sweet.
If you'd like the address, it's RSBconsultation@regulation.govt.nz

Also, if you're in Aotearoa, you need to make a submission on the Regulatory Standards Bill ASAP. Submissions close tomorrow night. I just did mine using the resources below, it took me about 10 minutes.

The ovulation tracking app, "Ovia", now mandates you identify what state you live in. Delete immediately and warn anyone who might need to know.

Dyed my hair neon pink again while I was over there. Wish I could find Brite Organix hair colour here in NZ.

Today is the last day of almost a month off work for me. I went to Australia for 2 weeks. It was awesome and too hot but lovely. Caught up with so many folks. Missed some though. My cat didn't want anything to do with me. Her adoptive brother loved me up lots though.

I want to remind everyone that your local library is both physical AND digital.

You hate streaming everything because the price is ridiculous? Library.

You hate ads because they're every 3 mins or less? Library.

You want to reduce your digital footprint? Library.

You want sourced info? Library.

There’s a new wild population of #takahe in NZ! With Ngāi Tahu and supported by Fulton Hogan we’ve released 18 takahē to the Greenstone Valley near Queenstown - a site where they haven’t lived for over a century. #conservation 📸 Glen Greaves

I wish these sites would just understand that I want to see the people I follow's posts, in reverse chronological order (newest first) including anything they share. How hard is that?

Every pre-chopped, pre-sliced, pre-peeled, pre-whatver food item that you think is gross or lazy or unnecessary is a disability tool. 🤗
Food writers love to write about how they think pre-minced garlic is disgusting and ignore the existence of disabled people who don't have the dexterity to chop garlic but can still cook thanks to what is essentially a disability tool. Like just STFU about it and don't use it if you don't like it.

Reposting as everyone needs to see this baby!
Belugas don't lift their heads above water very often. Usually, all you see is a white or grey lump, so when I managed to catch this calf's face, I was so excited. this little guy is only a few months old and will take 7-9 years to go from grey to white. #addOcean
