Yes to transit, housing, and safe streets. 👟🏡🚆🚲 Gather signatures with us for Connect Bay Area, the five-county regional transit funding measure for the Nov 26 ballot! https://luma.com/connectbayarea
Buried deep in the contingency plan to slash costs at BART is an all-out nuclear scenario called “Phase 3”: Shut the rail system down altogether.

This complete unraveling would only happen if voters decline to [vote for for Connect Bay Area in November].

BART’s cost-cutting plan risks a ‘death spiral’ that could end all train service

Connect Bay Area is a five-county ballot measure to fund public transit throughout our region, and we need it to avoid severe service cuts (things like 50% cuts to Muni and an end to weekend BART and Caltrain service).

Join us in gathering signatures for it: luma.com/connectbayar...

We deserve a justice system that acknowledges that Grandpa Vicha was murdered. We can have that and also give his killer a clear path toward rehabilitation. This was not an involuntary death.

Very few Jewish electeds have called this a 'genocide.' Thank you @scottwiener.bsky.social.

@sanders.senate.gov and @balint.house.gov are I think the only two at the national level who have? And they only did in September--it took them time to grapple with this too.

Absolute tragedy. The DPH and Sheriff failed in their duty to protect front-line healthcare and social workers. They should have taken it seriously when workers were asking, for weeks, for help with the attacker, whom they feared.

‘He was fighting it’: Colleagues of slain S.F. General Hospital social worker tried to save him
A vigil Sunday evening memorialized Alberto Rangel, 51, the social worker fatally attacked Thursday afternoon by a man authorities have identified as a patient.

At SFGH for a candlelight vigil and memorial for Alberto Rangel, the social worker who was killed this week. This was predictable and preventable. It was a failure of systems and could have been any of the thousands of committed workers across DPH. We are all heartbroken.

I don't know who needs to hear this, but if you have a Costco membership, you can order from sameday.costco.com instead of from Instacart. I find it's about 10% cheaper on the overall order--and the user interface and delivery is executed by Instacart, anyways.

RIP one of the great ones, Frank Gehry. Architects love to be too cool for him, but he changed the world's conception of what a building could be.
Breaking News: Frank Gehry, a titan of architecture, has died at 96. He designed some of the world’s most recognizable buildings — many widely regarded as masterpieces. nyti.ms/4rGCYiE

"Unlike denser parts of the city, there are very few affordable homes in D4, where homes are $2M. We need more housing options for young people for the next generation so that they have opportunities for homes. I support the Family Zoning Plan." Not bad for your first BOS meeting, Supervisor Wong! 🙌

I've been taking a breather from Mamdani content because I think he needs time to set up his team, get sworn in, and start doing things before the fawning continues, but THIS is worth an exception.
Trump is now defending Mamdani in response to loaded questions from Fox News. incredible scenes

This is rich. Connie Chan says she “built real affordable housing, not the Sacramento version that destroys our neighborhoods.”

She points to new affordable housing on Geary: housing that she didn’t build but that *was* built using “Sacramento version” housing laws & $52M in state funds. 🧵

Thank you and congratulations to every Democrat in the United States who ran for office, defended your seat, knocked on doors, made phone calls, donated, talked to your friends and family, or voted.

Last night showed me that we can win our country back.

My god this is for real one of the most incredible speeches I’ve ever seen by an elected US politician: ‘And if there is any way to terrify a despot, it is to dismantle the very conditions that allowed him to accumulate power. This not only how we stop Trump, it’s how we stop the next one.’
Mamdani: "We can respond to oligarchy and authoritarianism with the strength it fears, not the appeasement it craves. After all, if anyone can show a nation betrayed by Donald Trump how to defeat him, it is the city that gave rise to him."

Every official with a heart & brain says they have a plan to protect our country from Trump. There's nobody I believe more on this than Scott Wiener. He's our most effective legislator on a huge range of difficult issues, and doesn't flinch in the face of fierce opposition and even personal threats.

Had a great time giving out #Yeson50 signs today at #NoKings in San Francisco. If we were the only people voting, it'd be a landslide. Unfortunately, there's parts of the state where Prop 50 will probably be under water so...

California insulin!

This is how we could get single-payer healthcare in the U.S.--by showing how much cheaper things are when you leverage the purchasing power of the state instead of pitting us all against each other as individual buyers in open markets.

CS is banned in warfare by treaty - a treaty the US itself has actually signed (the Geneva Gas Protocol). Yet we continue to allow police to use it.

If it's beyond the pale when used by militaries against other militaries, it should clearly be banned from use against civilians.

This gives me hope. That Calif can get serious about climate. That young people and new immigrants to Calif might have same privileges I did. That we can make transit work. And that we transit advocates can learn from this phenomenal work by housing activists
[VICTORY ALERT] Governor Newsom has signed SB 79, which will make it legal to build multi-family housing near high quality transit!
