We need to be ageist to make room for younger representatives. I’m sure there are plenty of great 60+ candidates but I am tired as hell and just 49. We need their energy, anger, and impatience for a clearly flawed system.

Family Myth: We were simple farmers, looking for a better life.
Family Reality: We were expatriated revolutionaries, fleeing certain death.

It's not easy to admit your ancestors became the oppressor, but good people do it anyway.

20yrs ago we had to evict a scammer. Now I come back to the city and this guy is at every city council meeting and they treat him like an old hippie hero. They don't know how many times he has been evicted. He is an old civil rights guy who scams roommates. Sigh.

Wild success tonight at the native plant launch party!

65 people turned out and we packed up 5100 (!!!) packs of native seeds, made over 600 seed bombs, folded 100 ice alert zines, distributed over 150 whistles…

Damn. Good night.

Thank you to everyone who attended!

Just found out our town has a program that gives you 75$ to buy food to have a block party. They've figured out safe neighborhoods have neighbors that know each other.

Despite not being a drinker, I bought a cheap bottle of champagne. I'm hoping keeping it chilled will prompt the big beautiful obituary.

I got to sort iceberg lettuce at the food bank today. Some heads were edible, some were dripping slime balls. When a box flap covered in lettuce slime flaps, it flings lettuce slime everywhere. It was my lucky day day, none got in my eyes or mouth. And we had lettuce for taco night.

From a former homeless gal, now a food bank volunteer: When you're down and out, you don't get many baking supplies, spices, greens, or protein. Everyone needs to nourish their happy w an occasional sweet, spice in their beans, and fiber for gut health. Nut bars = portable protein. TY donors!

It's election day! To all my fellow US folks: make sure you get out & vote. The eels demand it of you.

Eels, of course, are citizens of the world. So they can't vote in local elections, and they have to rely on you to do it for them.

Even if you won't vote for you, be a proxy vote for an eel!

My department has a mutual aid table in a public area outside the main office. In addition to providing ready to eat snacks, some bring other food (and produce from our gardens) to share with whoever needs it. Nothing is there for long, so that existing need has gotten bigger.
Professors,

some of your students just lost their access to food. This will put a strain on their ability to pay rent and focus in class. They might need to not pay electric to make ends meet. They might be coming to class hungry.

Please be aware that the loss of SNAP will impact your students

The USDA sent an email to grocery stores telling them they are prohibited from offering special discounts to customers affected by the SNAP funding lapse.
I'm aware of at least 2 stores that had offered struggling customers a discount, then withdrew it after receiving this email
