We live inside a babushka doll of disenfranchisement in the district. That’s the context of then becoming federally occupied by a president who hates us.
DC local politics is like everybody in the city wants it & it passes it through the council. But the mayor & rich gentrifiers didn’t like it so they try to overturn the law. But wait, Congress doesn’t want the people of DC to determine themselves either so of course we have to see what they say.

Human rights are human rights, and as soon as you give up on any group, you’ve made the rights of any group subject to negotiation and removal.

If you are willing to throw away entire groups of people to protect your insular strategy that will only protect you instead of protecting everyone then I don’t want your leaders and I sure as hell don’t want to be associated with you.
I hate to say it but the majority of the country is not going to die on the hill of trans rights. We can’t protect ANY groups if we can’t win a national election, so purity tests only serve to make specific groups feel triumphant. That’s not “erasing” them; it’s long-horizon strategy.

Trans rights are civil rights. If you aren't willing to die on the hill of trans rights, then you aren't willing to die on the hill of Black rights. Of Jewish rights. Of disabled rights. Of gay rights. Of anyone's rights. Human rights.

This is my biggest fear. That we would be essentially silenced according to the whims of people easily influenced by the flattery of bigots.
It'd be very difficult for Bluesky to make it so that Blacksky can't see posts by Bluesky users, but the reverse isn't true. Bluesky can wall off its own users from seeing Blacksky content.
