I’m actually pretty lukewarm on the idea of the Democratic Party doing mutual aid as a campaign tactic, but this is so nauseatingly cynical. This consultant-speak, ROI-driven way of thinking about campaigns misunderstands the appeal of insurgent candidates and is antithetical to movement-building.
Also, again, Kat may be immune to this because of her money press. But usually people give you money because they want to campaign with it so you can win. It’s a weird, even disrespectful to go “I’m going to burn a bunch of it on extremely expensive food giveaways that I can’t even do efficiently.”

My issue is that everyone wants legislation and assumes it will just all work. It won’t. Too many vested interests. Too much need for AI to make it all work, which will scare people and make them question it more.

Half the amount that everyone currently pays could provide universal healthcare. Private health companies don’t need to exist. Eliminate them. And use your collective buying power and economies of scale to get it done. Every cent of their profit is healthcare denied.
