hi guys I know I haven't been very active lately, and I don't talk about where I'm from often, but the government made some really scary announcements today so I thought I'd share to let everyone know what's happening. here are some posts from twt for context

This is not "reform", this is "regress".

Regress UK.
BREAKING 🚨 | Reform announce plans to legalise discrimination.

Plans include scrapping the Equality Act, which would legalise discrimination against a worker if they were a woman, disabled, black, pregnant or gay.

One of the most interesting things in Matthew Ball’s State of Video Gaming 2026 is the suggestion games are being outcompeted by, essentially, the gamification and gamblification of the rest of the world - r/wallstreetbets being an early sign of that

(Someone should write a book about that etc etc)

My phone insists on adding an apostrophe to the word "its" every single time, and then proceeds to underline it as a grammatical error.

I'm close to turning autocorrect off again.

The techbro idea that the liberal arts are worthless is something I will never be able to understand because I genuinely believe that every single person should have *some* kind of creative outlet, even if they think they are terrible at it.

In a pretty grim decision - with one very considerable silver lining - the High Court has dismissed our challenge to the EHRC Interim guidance.

A number of resources follow in a 🧵.

My friend summed it up perfectly

'So ... If I work in a bar I'd have to use the men's, but if I go into work for a pint as a customer then I get to use the ladies? 'kin nonsense'

The High Court has ruled on our challenge to the EHRC’s interim guidance.

The judgment contains some good news for trans rights – but plenty of bad.

Today's ruling on the EHRC's interim guidance is a disappointing, confusing and mixed picture.

A trans woman who is a customer in a café can use the women's toilets, but if she works there she might not be able to.

Once again everyday life is being made a legal labyrinth for trans people.

It is my dearest hope that, one day, people who write sentences like that in this memo have them read back to them moments before the end.
Facebook plans to put facial recognition in its glasses and they think we’re too stupid to fight back.

Their internal memo: “We will launch during a dynamic political environment where many civil society groups that we would expect to attack us would have their resources focused on other concerns.”

Just imagine, today, if children got referred to "clinical support" if they expressed any interest in "gay feelings" with the Government saying that approval for them to be allowed to express being homosexual at school would only be likely in very limited circumstances.

That's what this guidance is
This draft guidance reproduces Cass insisting that clinicians must be involved in decisions about *social transition* which actually should be none of their damn business

They take the line that this "non-directive" intervention should force things to be "keeping options open and flexible"...

It's fascinating to see people saying "no other minority deals with" about things that literally every minority deals with constantly, all the time, very publicly.

Can we stop referring to groups that exist purely to discriminate against trans people as "women's groups"? Especially when there are actual groups out there fighting for women's rights that might have a less transphobic opinion that are being lumped in with hate groups.

A social media ban is a get-out-cheap approach to social media by the Government.

Actually regulate big social media firms? Actually hold them to account for their business practices? Actually expect them to moderate their platforms?

No! Let's cut off the kids from online community instead!
