Amateurs. I'm going round the care home with some pre-drafted wills and AI showing me as their grandson.
The comments on this are all about how sweet it is and I feel insane. Using AI to make fake memories of your grandma with dementia and telling her they happened and then filming her reaction

I stared at number 7 for a minute and thought that the path forward involved exploiting the fact that sin(x) was an even function 🙈

I thought to myself that "I should probably check that sin(x) is even" and then "eh it's fine it's not an exam", so the cope is that I would have got this in an exam,

there's a famous story about diogenes: plato had defined a man as a "featherless" biped so diogenes took a labubu and ran into plato's academy screaming: "behold! a man!"

I think I have this feeling a lot, starting especially with the "thank god we can automatically generate the million lines of boilerplate required to do anything" but the answer somehow isn't to just have a platform that doesn't need the boilerplate. I do not disagree on the boilerplate sad part!

I do find it funny that every (both...) videos I've watched about e-graphs says that you should only be able to rewrite "x/x" to 1 if you can show that x != 0, but it seems like the fashion in the broader compiler optimisation space is just to say it's UB to divide by 0 and do the rewrite regardless

Insane how much of good programming is just writing good type definitions, and then writing to that

Ok it turns out that although this is mostly good I'm probably going to have to rewrite a significant portion because I didn't consider how the API would actually get used by consumers 😔

I guess this is a large benefit of writing a library along with something that depends on it at least :)
Anyway very cool that this time my only issues up to this point have been off by one errors, I added an additional intermediate step and that has made things so much easier. Instead of interpreting the bytecode directly, I turn it into a lower level more interpretable form and then do AI on that,
Back on my bullshit (using hand written graphviz in the top result for "graphviz online" to visualise things instead of generating that myself)

Also this rewrite is going much better than the first time, rewriting is so op...

18V CORDLESS DRILL BATTERIES.

Because of the usecase, they are made to be extremely robust and there's 18V adapters and appliances for fucking EVERYTHING you might need on site. Coffee makers. USB-PD power supplies. AC inverters.

FUCK I'm so tempted to make my entire house run on drill batteries.

yeah like the tool is kinda neat, but the mindset...idgi. like *why* did you need a bespoke impl? and why if you did was an utterly disposable one sufficient?
