Taylor Swift’s silence on the Trump administration using her music speaks volumes | Alim Kheraj
Official Trump social media accounts have been using The Life of a Showgirl snippets to promote his agenda. Why has Swift, who once wanted ‘to be on the right side of history’, said nothing?

The very predictable and oft-heard answer — that people who can afford to fly are so rich that they don’t need transit — is outdated and irrelevant. Transit is good for everyone: it lowers traffic and reduces greenhouse gases, irrespective of who is using it.
Stop the presses!

Next week, the Victoria Regional Transit Commission will consider the option of creating a one-seat (direct) ride from downtown Victoria to YYJ and on to Swartz Bay. This would be achieved by altering the 72 line and re-routing it to YYJ.

Thoughts? Would you take the bus to YYJ?

Super proud of kid and her vball team. They beat a team that has been a massive Achilles heel for two yrs for their team, in 3 straight sets. They finished third in their zone (about 25 schools) with the win and are headed to highschool provincials in two weeks.

My IL’e are here and it’s taken 5 days for them to go on an anti immigration rant, all the while complaining how there isn’t enough money paying for their joint replacements

“Now show it in the rain,” is a comment that pops up in our feed occasionally, as if the country that cycles 18 billion kilometres while experiencing 217 days of precipitation each year grinds to a halt every single time the skies open.

There's no such thing as bad weather, only bad infrastructure.

A crossing guard was killed by the driver of a dump truck yesterday. absolutely heartbreaking.
Look at our intersections, look how hostile these are for people/children - this is what we continue to build and defend at all costs. These aren't accidents, these are results. www.cbc.ca/news/canada/...

Happy to see that the people in Kamloops aren’t raging racists.
The story is actually that Dallas Brodie’s anti-Indigenous racism and generally antisocial politics aren’t welcome in Kamloops, and she was booted to the curb. Byyye. www.castanetkamloops.net/news/Kamloop...

PSA: if you are a professor of an online course and you have a whole discussion section for your students to ask you questions about assignments, you should probably be on top of answering the questions and not leave them for two weeks and answer right before the assignment is due

Have a friend who was nominated for an award that is labelled as something for Young Adults shaping the future in their industry. She’s almost 50. Is that YA now? Can boomers just get out of the way and accept that other people are full fledged adults that can function and be leaders.

I can't possibly be shocked that politicians are downplaying the Epstein files when the internet has spent the last 6 yrs turning Epstein into a meme and punchline.

If everyday people trivialize the trafficking and sexual abuse of girls, why the fuck would politicians be any different? C'mon now.

Makes me so mad that my kid hasn’t had very little interest from Uni’s to play vball but another kid who is objectively a worse player just announced her spot at a Uni. The difference: she is 2 inches taller. 😡

Ugh really bad scene on Pacific and Nelson this afternoon. Depending on who you read, either someone jumped from a balcony or a child fell off a balcony. Just really awful either way.

Really tired of reading all the men weighing in on the removal of the warnings about cancer on HRT, and continuing to tell women how to deal with their bodies. The remove is backed by science and is long overdue. Women have suffered for yrs without HRT b/c some men did a shite study.

A Sharon Begley byline, almost 5 years after her death.

Upon hearing the news James Watson had died, a STAT reporter said in our Slack, "I wish I could read what Sharon would have written."

Incredible news: Sharon in fact did pre-write a Watson obit. And it is masterful and excoriating.
