I’m not qualified to know whether Machado is a good person or good for Venezuela. And I definitely don’t think, in any case, that Donald Trump should be deciding Venezuela’s leadership. What I do know is that in a world where entitled white men decide everything, every woman knows this is true.

Never met a person who learned universal compassion from religion. Every religion claims that a failure to follow it makes you morally less-than its believers in some way, at a bare minimum. Religion teaches pity, at best, not compassion. More often it teaches you to fear or disdain nonbelievers.

I’m sure people will tell me this is unfair but if Jack Smith really believes he had rock solid evidence that Trump tried to stage a coup,, he had a responsibility to make it known when he became sure the case wouldn’t move forward. I get the slippery slope. Fuck that. He had a duty. As a human.
