Tired middle-aged woman, likes cats. Has strong opinions, may or may not share them. Transitioned in the long-ago years of the early 00s, not that it's any of your business.

is she transmed or is she just a world-weary trans woman who's been out for almost a decade instead of a character in a queer coloring book

I'm told this is in California. Here in Canada, in order to do a criminal record background check for employment, you're required to provide your deadname under aliases. Within the past 5 years or so the process has been changed so that deadname is then PROVIDED DIRECTLY TO THE EMPLOYER, unredacted.
Why tf do you need to know what marker was on my birth certificate for employment?

"Evolution clearly intended men to be goofs" reads a LOT differently in Canada than it does in the US.

FYI, "goof" is Canadian slang for child molester and/or prison informant, and that accusation is fighting words - failure to respond immediately is acknowledgement that you are in fact a goof.

Found out this evening about the series Rock Is A Lady's Modesty. Though I lost interest in anime as a genre about twenty years ago, the modern integration of motion capture into animation is absolutely bonkers. K-On was a series abt a band that hardly ever played b/c animating instruments is HARD.

I'm afraid I have to plead the 5th on this, but it did result in a couple of online friendships that are now a quarter century old. Though we were a weird bunch, it was a community and a space where I felt safe to come out as trans and work through my emotions around that, amongst accepting friends.
Okay, let's get nostalgic

What was the VERY FIRST online platform that you became addicted to posting on?????

"Don't respond to your tormentors with violence, that makes you just as bad as them. Use your words & peaceful de-escalation, or just ignore them & they'll go away."

That there is some peak School Admin Style Bullshit. Very "we can't be bothered to mediate, stop making extra work for us" energy.

Lou Reed's Metal Machine Music 40 times in a row.

Conversely: You Suffer by Napalm Death 27 times in a row, followed by a Rickroll, followed by 12 more repeats of You Suffer.

Thinking about looking up artists I used to occasionally check in on, and they're just GONE now. Tumblr deleted. Deviantart deleted. Twitter account empty. Packed up and left and took everything with them, and understandably so.

Because front and center on all these sites is "Come Try Our AI Slop."

Seen on IG, by Zedcat (shelley_zedcat on the other site we won't name, and who doesn't appear to be on BlueSky).

This is what happens when cis folks think "trans culture" begins and ends with Drag Race and/or super glammed up Influencers. The second panel is pretty much my reaction to this.

Nobel science prize for whoever invents HRT that lets you configure your body *exactly* the way your brain's internal map says it should be, instead of rolling a set of loaded dice and taking a natural debuff.

I know the numbers I'm looking for. I wish I could just plug them into Character Select.

Because I closed my balcony door at 2 pm. Because I walked to the bathroom at 10 pm. Because I was out for a bike ride. Because I existed & some guy needed a punching bag.

If you're trans and you're lucky it's just those two words. If you're not, there's the T slur between them, followed by a fist.
I haven’t (and most likely won’t) watch the recently released video but I swear I can hear that “fucking bitch” in my head clear as day. The snarling hate and disgust. Every woman has heard it.

From about 1999 to 2008 we had a good thing and didn't even know how good it was. I miss that sense of community.
the internet's golden age was specialist hobby forums that developed incredibly insular beefs in the off-topic subforum

all social media sites except maaaaybe reddit could be relabeled "the screaming room of endless screaming" and be perfectly accurate

Canadian here, too busy being scared shitless of this happening to us in the non-distant future. I'm an afternoon's walking distance from an undefended border on the other side of which are Americans outnumbering us 10:1, and out-arming us by several orders of magnitude. And we have oil & resources.
So when can you start

I got to pet two cats today! One of them took me completely by surprise - I was walking along minding my own business and suddenly I heard a little meow and there was a black cat beside me wanting attention.

That's about as good a start to the year as I could hope for. More please.

Current mood: reallifecomics.com/comic-mobile...

It hasn't been awful for me personally, I just feel like I'm treading brackish smelly pond water forever. But it's been absolutely devastating for so many of my friends, and for society. And I want my friends to have some hope and other nice things.

Probably preaching to the choir here, but this is your semi-regular reminder (spurred on by @impossiblephd.bsky.social ) to go get a proper professional bra fitting.

D & DD cups are average now. They're not "huge", especially at smaller band sizes. The fact that regular stores stop there is stupid.
