I have pointed this out for some time, and now you see it rise to the top: professional police—local police and those at DHS and Justice who do real police work—are sickened by ICE because they are amateurs and yahoos.

Minneapolis Police Chief Brian O'Hara: "People have had enough. This is the third shooting in less than 3 weeks. The MPD went the entire year last year recovering about 900 guns from the street, arresting hundreds of violent offenders, and we didn't shoot anyone ... this is not sustainable."

I am watching what is happening in Minneapolis on Ali Velshi and one of the ICE officers (off camera) literally says, “It’s like Call of Duty. Pretty cool huh?” as they shoot whatever it is they are shooting. Agents walking around, guns unholstered for no reason. This is insanity

My neighbor told me he keeps losing falcons to the widening gyre so I asked how many falcons he has and he said he just goes to the falconry and gets a new falcon afterwards so I said it sounds like he’s just feeding falcons to drown with the ceremony of innocence and then Yeats started crying.

There’s this story I sometimes tell about a Gifted & Talented thing I did as a kid, where all the kids knew that “Ring Around the Rosy” was about the plague but they didn’t know how to adjust for these other kids who knew that too, so a bunch of 6 year olds just stood in a circle telling each other

Some of my favorite works of art from the ancient world depict humble craftspeople plying their trade. In this red-figure kylix, we see a cobbler cutting leather, using a crescent knife. To his left are strips for the sole and upper part of a boot, and above a boot, sandal and knife. 🏺 1/

Inside of a wide black kylix (drinking cup) is a red-figure tondo decoration depicting a balding cobbler sitting at a table, cutting leather. His torso is bare and muscular, and he has a black beard and a fringe of black hair, but is bald on the top of his head. He leans over and uses a crescent knife to cut the leather on the cutting board. A basket at his feet has a pale yellow inscription, 'KALOS' ('beautiful', 'good', 'handsome').
