I don't want to talk to a chat bot. I don't want to use AI to respond to a message. I don't want to download an app. I don't want to connect my fridge to wifi. I don't want to connect my socials to my bank. I don't want to rent the thing I used to own. I don't want to get notifications on my phone.

There was an old tweet that stuck with me: "If you can easily walk to the coffee shop but your barista has a one hour commute, you don't live in a walkable 15 minute city; you live in a theme park"
as someone who lives nextdoor to both supportive housing and public housing, i need people to understand that the best locations for both are going to be the central neighborhoods in a metropolitan area, where there is easy and reliable access to services and jobs.

Say it after me: Chat GPT is not a search engine. It does not scan the web for information, it just generates statistically likely sentences. You cannot use it a search engine, or as a substitute for searching.

Now. Please never use an LLM for information searches ever again.

If you want someone to think twice before kissing Trump's feet you need them to think they could face consequences for it once he's gone. That doesn't work if they think we're all going back to being pals when this is over

Wearing a mask these days sure gets me a lot of people asking “are you sick?”

I wish there were a succinct (and non-argumentative) way of saying, “no, I’m just unusually dedicated to, you know… the opposite of that”

So the reality on the "shoplifting epidemic" at discount stores is they are too cheap to hire enough workers to properly staff their stores, so they'd rather sell less stuff and make less profit than give in to labor? Quite a different story from the headline, CNN! (cc: @michaelhobbes.bsky.social)

Since it came up elsewhere, if you've never seen this video of a man who built increasingly more complex backyard mazes for his neighborhood squirrels as he realized they were fucking genuines with Olympian gymnastics skills do yourself a favor and take a look. Link to the thre-video series:
