Another exceptional novel that I read this year, and which I've seen nary a mention of around the normal spots despite it being longlisted for the NBA, is Kevin Moffett's ONLY SON.
The best book I read this year was Let the Boys Play by Nicholas John Turner and I believe the same is almost certainly true for everyone who read Let the Boys Play this year. Except also maybe best was Is a River Alive? by Robert Macfarlane. Also State Champ by Hilary Plum. There are others, too.

i have just read the single most aggrandizing author bio i've ever encountered, a genuine shining pinnacle of the form, just about impossible to imagine a person sitting down and typing such things about themself, my god, beauty is still possible.
