I attended exactly one VP Ball in my life. I carried around a notebook and jotted my little notes on the sly because I was writing what would become The Slide. The experience more or less rejiggered my entire sense of life in St. Louis. I imagine this will be excellent.

There is a lot that's fucked up about this—it's all fucked up—but maybe most striking to me, now, sitting here in my body and taking time to consider and respond, is that the death bot's response takes all of one second.
This conversation between ChatGPT and the young man it encouraged to commit suicide is just...my god

first and foremost you have to love people. you have to try to love people, fucked up animals we are and all. indulging misanthropy and anti-social sentiment is a win for the anti-social misanthropes who want everyone who isn't them dead.

Now Ovid is weeping. Each night about this time he puts on sadness like a garment and goes on writing. In his spare time he is teaching himself the local language (Getic) in order to compose in it an epic poem no one will ever read.

In his victory speech, Mamdani claimed fighting antisemitism as HIS issue. He ranged it right alongside fighting Islamophobia.

That is the move that many on the left never quite figure out. And it is the OBVIOUS move when you are the Democratic mayor and the Republican Party is embracing Nazism.
The ADL is terrified that the Mamdani administration will continue to demonstrate that a genuine, tangible commitment to the well-being of Jews in America can coexist alongside staunch opposition to the policies of a country on the other side of the planet. It hurts their bottom line
