Instead of "the left isn't paying enough attention to these machine gods" they're claiming to build, perhaps we should write an article about how effective altruists brand themselves "left", ask who is writing these articles, and trace their cults and sources of funding.

Tomorrow you may see James David Vance or some other purported Catholic from this administration with ashes on their forehead, it’s important to remember that it’s all just for show.

After reading Careless People it’s actually wild to open meta’s text-based platforms and see them try to do all of the things to me that Sarah Wynn Williams describes in the book

I think if you are gonna use Threads you have to read the book so you know the anti-democracy machine you’re sustaining
As a media person, I am probably paying a real cost by refusing to engage with Threads. I just can't do it.

Firstly, Facebook is an evil company and I want less of them in my life.

Secondly, every time I opened Threads it served me an awful stream
of garbage that made me upset and angry.
when I open threads, 90% of the posts that are served to me are either rage bait or straight out false information

And the algorithm is choosing that

Nothing comparable happening here at all

A two month old baby in one of the country's immigrant concentration camps is suffering from bronchitis and was recently unresponsive.

They are refusing him care.

A baby may be killed at the hands of ICE. Will we care about this as much as a white man being murdered?

They raided the jailed children to steal their letters.

The problem, in federal officials' minds, wasn't confining children in prison-camp conditions; it was that the children could tell the public about it.
“I don’t want to be in this place I want to go to my school.”

- 7 year old imprisoned by ICE for 70 days in a concentration camp in Texas.

Today, after @propublica.org published this story, the camp was raided to confiscate letters from the children.

Please read this thread!!!

And if you are concerned about ICE being deployed for voter intimidation, find a local voting rights org who is already doing the work.

Start with Vote Riders. States having weird/changing Voter ID laws is less flashy for scaring folks but it works real well.
Each arrest takes like a half dozen agents. They just don’t have the manpower for this. I am not even sure where the marginal utility of this type of thing would be. Maybe if they concentrated their efforts in one congressional district or something.
One of my biggest fears about the midterms is that ICE could flood the polls with agents who perform Kavanaugh Stops on every non-white person before they get a chance to cast a ballot, then detain them until voting is over. Which is not far-fetched at this point. www.huffpost.com/entry/ice-po...

Well sir I have a fix that has proven effective in study after study.
Obama: "Ethically speaking, it's an atrocity in a country this wealthy we have people just on the streets, & we should insist on policies that recognize their full humanity. But we should also recognize the average person doesn't want to have to navigate around a tent city in the middle of downtown"

I’ve never seen anything like this during fashion week. I think it’s a big deal.
I know people like to dunk on wearing tiny "ICE OUT" pins, but I think they represent a really important culture shift. Even people who are very conscious about their image and expected to perform in a palatable way are wearing them in very public places.

We can't fall into right-wing populism’s lie that the most vulnerable in society are to blame for wealth inequality in our countries. We need to build movements that tell the truth: the story of wealth inequality is not a cultural one, but a class one.

I am so tired of democrats willful ignorance on immigration. This is why no one trusts them and unless you’re a once in a generation political talent like Obama you can’t overcome this glaring moral void.
