There were a LOT of general strike signs and MULTIPLE speakers called for a general strike.

Want to know the value of the #NoKings protests? They helped make this kind of demand more credible. Building capacity for mass action, step by step.

The Trump Administration is claiming they don’t have SNAP funding for next month.

That’s not true. SNAP has a contingency fund that could last well into November.

If Americans don’t get their SNAP benefits, it will be because the Trump Administration decided to stop them.
With SNAP funding set to lapse, 42M children and families are at risk of experiencing hunger.

I am leading 213 House Democrats in calling on the USDA to use contingency reserve dollars and all legal authority to fund SNAP during this shutdown.

Chris Murphy: "There's a lot of history that has taken place in the East Wing & it was just destroyed without any conversation in the public, without any consent of Congress. It's absolutely illegal. That visual is powerful b/c you're watching destruction of the rule of law as those walls come down"

Enough is enough. Adelita Grijalva was elected on September 23. The people of Arizona have a right to be represented in Congress.

During today’s pro forma session, when the House is called to order I will seek unanimous consent to insist upon the swearing-in of Adelita Grijalva.

Sanders: Our life expectancy is about four years less than in other wealthy countries.

If you’re working class in America, you live 7-8 years shorter than people who are wealthy. Now, why is that?

The answer is not just healthcare. But it is the day-to-day stress that working people live under.

Also I want to take a moment to remind everyone (who isn’t an elected official) to take time to recharge your batteries. You don’t have to attend every city council meeting or protest. Find what centers you, then get back in the fight. This is a marathon, not a sprint.

Measles can kill, especially young children

In 2019, RFK Jr visited Samoa to spread anti-vax lies, spurring a measles outbreak that led to the deaths of 83 people - mostly children.

We can’t let that tragedy repeat in Texas. The MMR vaccine is 97% effective at preventing measles. Let’s stop the spread.
