The thing is Stargate is one of those bedrock TV franchises. Beautiful craftsmanship becomes bland when you end up looking like a ps2 cutscene filtered through an Instagram “HD” filter. Plastic yet dirty. Textural noise yet still far too smooth.
It’s truly mind-blowing to me how so much incredible practical makeup and practical set design can, through lighting & cinematography (and general production design choices) end up looking utterly un-tactile.
