So proud of these drivers for FOUR YEARS of perseverance. Standing strong not just for Uber drivers but for all Aotearoa workers.

objectively curious why this govt is pushing for higher emission vehicles to come to NZ when the standard here is apparently so much worse than other countries that manufacturers are probably not making these vehicles? Like who is buying these cars and who still makes them #nzpol

#NZpol My impression too 😔
In addition to the incredibly apt comparison to Robotdebt I reposted earlier, I'd like to mention the perverse incentives here about getting folks off ACC. Not removing their need for ACC, but rather removing the provision of ACC to them. There's quite a difference.

Heard about this on RNZ this morning. No one seemed to say anything about the ever increasing waiting lists for treatment or to even see a specialist 🤔 I wonder why people are on ACC for longer.

WTF.

"Nothing in ACC's proposals actually looks at rehabilitation,"
- ACC advocate Warren Forster

"It's all about 'how can we ramp up exits, how can we get more people coming off the scheme', and that's the antithesis of the statutory purpose. It's the antithesis of why we have ACC in NZ."

This is my average-height wife next to one of the Dodge RAM trucks (called “utes” here in NZ) that are becoming more common on our roads.

I contend nobody needs a vehicle this large in an urban setting. It’s purely for self-esteem.

Trigger warning.

“In crashes, SUVs are more likely to strike vital organs in the core of adults’ bodies & heads of children. Hitting pedestrians above their center of gravity means they’re more likely to be knocked forward & down and then be driven over.”

Plus more likely to hit in the 1st place.

& yet there is no way of ever putting the wooden stake into the heart of the myth that conservative politicians are the 'money men'. This false narrative will never been buried in a lead sarcophagus & fired into the heart of the sun.

A very friendly dog (red cloud kelpie), her bottom square with age, is sprawled on a picnic rug as numerous small humans compete to see Who Can Pat Her Best.
Friendly Dog is in her element, a doggy smile on her face.
