I worked the HTML mines in the 90’s so I’ve seen some shit.

I develop .NET web apps for a living. Blazor, SSR, and HTMX are my current favourites.

The Apple iOS App Store has got to be the most static thing on the internet.

Honestly, the pitch drop experiment changes faster.

There must be thousands of great apps languishing behind the same ads for Candy Crush and other rubbish.

If everything Rob Pike created vanished overnight, the Internet would stop working. If everything AI created vanished overnight, we’d all breathe a huge sigh of relief and get on with our lives.
Fuck you people. Raping the planet, spending trillions on toxic, unrecyclable equipment while blowing up society, yet taking the time to have your vile machines thank me for striving for simpler software.

Just fuck you. Fuck you all.

I can't remember the last time I was this angry.

“Mickey 17” was a surprisingly good film. The trailer doesn’t give it away too much.

There are some clear jabs at colonialism, master race-ism, rich dudes wanting to leave earth etc.

When we got our TP Link Deco x20 mesh network, I hooked it up to our existing Huawei router as a gateway device to the ONT.

TIL I can just plug the Deco into the ONT and remove the router altogether. One less thing to go wrong.

I don't mean to boast, but I'm pretty chuffed with that for a server-side app using #HTMX.

And this is from the live app running in Azure including SQL traffic.

Curate your feed!

TVNZ has great content but the Apple TV app is flakier than a croissant.

We can only get one live channel and can’t change it. Restarting, even reinstalling, the app does nothing.

And every interaction seems to induce several ads before the content will restart.

Pluribus has entered the chat…
“Rather than relying on an implant or a patient's own body fat to add volume to hips or augment breasts, alloClae — which can cost as much as $100,000 per procedure — uses donor fat from a cadaver as a first-of-its-kind body filler.”
Corporate types are clamoring for a new kind of plastic surgery — using dead people's fat
Corporate types are waiting weeks for — and spending big on — alloClae, which cuts out the recovery time typically associated with body enhancements.

I’m sure some think Dyson vacuums are overpriced, but last week we called them about a problem with our old V10.

The operator got us on a video call, diagnosed the problem in realtime, and then located a replacement part.

This is how product support should be done.

The negative outcomes are pretty obvious, I think.

“I’m not understanding the anti-big tech subtext in a show I’m literally not watching because I now have the attention span of an iPad kid”
I was asked what I thought now that #pluribus has reached seven episodes.
I’m not seeing any of the liberal subtext some folks are seeing. But I’ve learned to watch the show by fast forwarding through the long, artsy stretches where no one speaks.
There were exactly 2 lines of interesting dialogue.

Very sad that I felt I had no choice but to resign from The Infinite Monkey Cage - a victory for the transphobes and other bigots - I did it because so much of the media has chosen to believe the kind and empathetic people are a fiction - they are real and so often unrepresented.

I have copilot pro at work, but I only have the free version at home so when the tokens run out, I have to wait.

In my opinion, these MCP-all-the-things people need to be open about the actual $$$ cost.
