This is one way to deal with bureaucracy!
a big runoff last night, in New Orleans:

Calvin Duncan was exonerated after spending *28 years* in prison; he tried to get his own case records from the New Orleans city clerk—but the office dragged its feet.

So Duncan ran to become city clerk himself, and yesterday ousted the incumbent.

Quebec just passed legislation to allow it to do the same. My union (#AMPL) is challenging it.
The Supreme Court has stated that Canadians have a Charter right to strike, and the Premier of Alberta just nullified that in order to end a teacher's strike that is entirely her fault.

She's such a coward that she walked out of #ableg as soon as she tabled the bill. #abpoli #cdnpoli

Universities are at risk of creating a situation where AI busts, public sentiment craters, and they are still contractually obligated to push AI to hostile student bodies.

Wait… what?

A terrible call.
Jesus Christ.

A standing ovation — from Liberals too — for Charlie Kirk in the Canadian House of Commons.

You can (and should) oppose political violence without doing all this, you know.

The federal government’s reliance on Section 107 to end strikes undermines collective bargaining and may violate workers’ constitutional right to strike.

This is absolutely enormous!

Gratitude to Canada's unions for showing our banker PM he just picked a fight he cannot win.

A chance now to build on the united union power that beat Doug Ford over the notwithstanding clause in 2022.

There is power in our unions!

Perfect way of describing Canada’s new “nation-building” legislation: when that “red tape” is environmental protections and Indigenous rights, fast-tracking projects transfers costs from the rich humans to the poor, to future generations and to our non-human relatives.
Cutting "red tape" (aka public protections), as Reeves is doing, does not save money. Instead, it transfers costs from the rich to the poor. Other people pay for financial recklessness, filthy rivers, air pollution, lax building standards and consumer rip-offs.
